| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 23, 2009 Frothy clouds of cream on a hazy, orange body. Spring bouquet aroma. Dry apricots, peaches, honey, and a nice hoppy finish rounded off by soft sour fermentation. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2009 Pours a pretty pale amber, with a persistent snowy white head, that is incredibly lacy. Sour, yeasty nose, with that unique Orval floral character, and a fruitiness that I can best describe as underripe apricots. Palate is soft, yeasty, with a gentle but firm hop background. Soft indeterminate fruitiness throughout. Long, sour finish. BiddleBrau (306), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 21, 2009 Light orange/amber with dense long lasting white head and very visable carbonation. Musty, lightly acidic/sour aroma. Strikingly sharp, tart bite with a dry finish. Flavor of aged hops. Difficult to describe this unique beer. Can take a bit to acquire the appreciation but once you do, you’ll understand why this is a classic. ericandersnavy (1051), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2009 Pour a dark cloudy amber with a off white head. Aroma is fruity with a bit of malt undertone. Flavor is sweet with a bit of alcohol and a nice finish. Not the best of the Trappists, but still enjoyable MrPickles (113), Wisconsin, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 16, 2009 Aroma is rich and mainly fruity, almost more like a cider or brandy than a beer, except there is a little maltiness. Color is a hazy honey golden with a very thick and persistent head. Flavor is malty and has a strong apple overtone, plus some bitterness that doesn’t seem like hoppy bitterness and is a bit unpleasant. Texture is smooth and just a little on the thin side. Overall, not my thing. MrBeerFanatic (350), jamestown, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 14, 2009 Pours a murky dark amber with a notably thick sudsy/ frothy/ fizzy off white head that never seems to go away. Several aromas of cherry, fig, bread, touch of spice, nut, and hop. The complex flavors are a little overrun from a slight alcoholic taste, but once you get past that you have an assortment of flavors. There is a little cherry, bread, and then mostly dry hops. Very dry with a touch of sweet and bitter then goes sour. A good trappist in my book. odgaard (254), Skyum, Thisted, Denmark
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2009 Hazy orange with a lasting beige head. Aroma: Malt, fruit (apple?), yeast, spice (coriander). Taste: Very dry, hops, spice, fruit. Orval was my first experience with other beers than main stream beers. That was an exceptional experience. Therefore Orval will allways be special to me.
