COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Another beer in Belgium I was shocked I had yet to rate. Pours hazy orange with a off white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and fruit. Nice sweet flavor and a solid beer.

11.2oz Bottle. Trappist Glass. Chilled. Pours a cloudy golden amber color. Fluffy long lasting off-white head. Aroma of floral hop, citrus, orange peel, clove. Taste of spice, bready malts, clove. Lively, smooth palate. A medium body. A very delicious beer. It looks and tastes great. Dry character, which I like. Well balanced. I would certainly drink again.

Orangy-brown pour with nice foamy white head. Aroma si citrus hops, sweet yeast, and slightly sour. Crisp, slightly bitter taste. Hoppy. Good but not as amazing as it was hyped.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2011 Pours a slight hazy amber/orange with a big lasting off-white head. Aroma is hops, not overwhelming belgian fruityness, brett, herbs, hay, dryness, caramel and some citrus. Taste is bread, brett, orange peel, citrus, caramel, hops, herbs and a maltprofile in perfect balance due to the bitternes. Dry and bitter end in this one and the palate is very suitable! definitely a "drink all the time beer". A stylish bottle also. - Fridge fashion...

2009 bottle. Cloudy orange pour with huge frothy head that almost spilled over the glass.. The aroma is barnyard funk from the brett, hops, and yeast. The flavor was a lot more subtle than the nose and was what one would expect from a good belgian. The finish was very dry and a little tart which I liked. Overall this is a pretty solid beer.

Copper color with a creamy off-white head. First thing I notice in the aroma is the earthy, barnyard quality from the yeast. Very nice. Nutty malt with fairly noticeable hop bitterness on the palate. Finishes dry. Has a little acidic twang on the palate as well. I like this beer, and I enjoy the fact that Orval is doing things a little differently than other Belgian abbey beers.

33 cL bottle at home poured into a Karmeliet glass. Amber brown beer with a very lively head. Fine, sweet, slightly malty aroma, very attractive and rich. Tastes, sweet, mild and subtle. Very pleasant, and you wouldn’t know it was 6.2%. The sweetness is less apparent as more sips are taken and the dry flavour sets in. Has character and is a fine tipple but is a little too dry for me.
