3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 headheldhigh (98) - Walnut, California, USA - OCT 30, 2010
Orval poured out a fabulous gold with a generous head which took a few minutes to fade. The pour into my chalace produced aromas of spicy fruits with the typical yeast and the added brett. The alcohol does make its pressence known and leaves a long finish with a slight bite. Delicious and smooth.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jaspe007 (47) - Utrecht/Wageningen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 29, 2010
Bottle. Quite foamy, so little smell at first. Foam has a nice consistency. Smells (eventually) quite strong, mostly bitterness. Nice amber color, a bit hazy. Taste is quite bitter, and I sense a little sourness as well. Also in the smell, as the glass gets emptier. Not stunned by the taste.
Palate; quite a full body, lively carbonation. Still, can’t find me in the other reviews. Perhaps just not my kind of beer. Will try again someday.

Meh. After the build-up this got from the beer-store guy I was really disappointed. A one-dimensional beer - and not for me.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dingol66 (37) - Brescia, ITALY - OCT 28, 2010
Assaggiata in bottiglia da 33 cl.
Aspetto splendido, colore oro e schiuma eccezionale, densa e persistente. Il profumo speziato domina gli aromi. Il gusto è pieno, intenso, leggermente salato su un corpo cremoso e ricco di aromi. Il finale vede un amaro in crescendo, duraturo e sottile, piacevole al palato
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Keg_Juggler (150) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 22, 2010
poured into Trappist glass, straw amber cloudy color, massive thick head that completely coated my glass and retains through my entire drink, aromas of hay, floral, citrus, honey, wine, dusty attic, right combination of bitter hops and malt sweetness, palate is near perfect, 6.9% ABV is there but just right again, dry finish, bravo!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hero12 (178) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 18, 2010
Pours an orange brown color with small white head. Aroma of grapes, spice, raisins, and alcohol. First taste is intense grapes and wine, finishes with a hint of mint. High amount of carbonation, medium bodied, and I can’t get over the aftertaste of mint. The aftertaste is those little pink mints, not a bad taste, but not typical for a beer?
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Hair6a11 (925) - Illinois, USA - OCT 18, 2010
Bottle: Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Terrific retention on this brew - I notice that it is fairly carbonated as well - and still is far into the pour -Aroma is Belgian yeasts, citrus, lemongrass ; This bottle was listed at 6.9% for what that’s worth. Medium mouthfeel - i think this is a fantastic blend of spices, citrus, lemongrass, a bit of barnyard/yeastiness - it just meshes really well. And yes, it finishes dry - I haven’t been a big of fan of that farmhouse character but I think I’m really coming around
