Commercial Description:
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Hazy orange color with huge, long-lasting, cloudy and lacy off-white head. Aroma is sourish, apple-like, yeasty and fruity. Flavor is dry, sour, fruity and spicy with bitter finish. Palate is medium-bodied, dry with smooth and foamy carbonation

Pours a deep copper with a firm white head. Aroma is of citrus (combination of orange and lime). Light bodied with good carbonation. Tastes of cloves, then sweet malt with faint hints of fruit, then some dry hoppiness. I’m not sure if it deserves such a high rating but it is very enjoyable nonetheless.

This is a rating for a 08/01/03 bottle. The way the brett works on this is fantastic, my suggestion is to keep it around a few years. The aroma particularly complex with scents of white wine, flowers, citrus, cork, and just a shade of funk. It genuinely smells beautiful. The beer is cloudy with floaties, a pale to orange colored beer with a large head that leaves a good lace. The taste I can liken to champagne, with some nice citrus notes, I know that when fresh this beer is quite hoppy, over time the beer retains bitterness, however most of the hop flavor is gone now. The beer is has a nice funky flavor with some good spicy alcohol notes. The palate is somewhat sharp, and it is not particularly smooth, but not all beers should be. Indeed a personal favorite of mine.

Bottled on: 2/20/08. Poured dark orange color with off white head. Aroma faintly resembling orange peel or what orange liquorice might taste like. Heavily carbonated with a very slight sweet taste followed by a dry aftertaste. Good, but I thought it was too heavy on carbonation.

Nothing new to say about this beer... a traditional belgian found everywhere it seemed in europe. Fairly well hidden alcohol that steps up and hits you later.

Nice cloudy orange/yellow color, huge fluffy head. Nice citrusy smell to it, very clean. Nice little bite to it as well, outstanding.

Murky orange with a wheaty head that stays thruought the glass. Spicy and citrus nose. A bit of sourness, acidity, and spiciness in the taste. with a dryness in the end.
