Bottled on March 2007.
Pours a very nice looking hazy amber with thick rocky off-white head that laced the glass. Aroma of berries, apples with caramel. Flavor of berries with faint sweetness with slight cinnamon note and a dry, hop bitter finish. Med-high carbonation with med-full body. Over all, this is an excellent beer. This beer is my new friend....... taunusmies (276), Finland Jun 18, 2008 Now this is something. Pours hazy golden colour. Aroma has notes of nearly everythang, apples, berries, yeast, caramel, u name it. Slightly sour aroma continues across the tasting, giving an reminder of sour berryful taste. Probably Orval would should be tasted a one or two more times before final rating (and also a bit more matured) but at this moment I would say that this is an interesting and excellent beer indeed. renffisch (490), london, Greater London, England Jun 18, 2008 a regular at my uncles, i enjoyed this one many a times at austrian sunsets. quite a staple for any beer nut, this dark amber beauty is just a classic. definitelty one of my favourites just for the fact that it not the usual slashhammer like it’s heavy relatives, Complex, dry and fruity, this offers a taste expiriece you can ponder over a few hours without getting bored, or absolutely hammered!
deep grassy nose with decent floral notes and exotic stewed fruits. Spicy in flavour, almost mulled characters. good bitterness at the tip of your toungue. and a lovingly lingering aftertaste as soft and kind as the setting sun over the bohemian hills... mbgrayson (141), Anaconda, Montana, USA Jun 18, 2008 A complicated beer. Dark orange color, thck head, yeasty. Finish is a little bitter. A solid Trappist ale. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 16, 2008 A beer that I have heard so much about but have had quite a bit of difficulty finding. This well sought after trappist pours a hazey orange body with an overflowing fluffy white head. It leaves an incredibly stick resin on the glass. A sweet fruity aroma of melon, orange and bananna. Flavors of bananna, fish and cherries. An incredibly taste beer, happy i could find it in Lisbon. :) JamesD (192), Centreville, Virginia, USA Jun 16, 2008 This rich, orange beer pours with a delightful, billowing head with a very pungent, flowery aroma with hints of nutmeg and a little citrus. The flavor is amazing, fruity, flowery, with enough bitterness to balance out, and a delicious spicy belgian yeast character of nutmeg, cinnamin, and orange peel. I will definitely buy this again. douqep (8), USA does not count Jun 16, 2008 Somewhat overpowering medicinal quality which was surprising at first but found somewhat pleasing later. Decent balance with alcohol content and hops but the head was out of control. Had to wait for 10 minutes for it to calm down.. Don’t think it’s something I’d buy again. GorillaD (4), Kirksville, Missouri, USA does not count Jun 15, 2008 I had this beer in Old Chicago in Sioux Falls SD cost $8.50 a bottle what a horrible beer. Tasted like I accidently sprayed cologne in my mouth. They should have paid me to drink it even then I wouldn’t have. 0.5 is too good of a rating for this beer stay away from this one.
