Commercial Description:
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Very mellow Trappist beer. Has a nice cinnamon/ spicy flavor to it. This is a very unique beer. Has malt and spicy sweetness in the aroma. Very good.

Gold bottom with a quick dissolve white foam. Aroma is very fruity. Taste is hoppy and dry. Very high carbonation. Spicy and sour finish. Unique.

Pours yellow and cloudy with some head. Aroma isn’t very strong, but definite yeast and fruit: pears and banana. Taste is not very strong but it’s a bit of fruit. I wasn’t as impressed as I was expecting after reading about this one.

Very dry mouthfeel; spicy and malty tastes competing with the hops; complex fruit flavors; dark amber pour; thick head; excellent

Bottle dated January 08, so this is pretty young. Amber brown pour with huge foamy head. Woody earthy nose with hints of sour fruit. Similar ok palate with hop bitterness present. A relatively subtle beer but quite nice and the low alcohol makes for easy drinking. Looking forward to aging one of these for awhile.

Finally went ahead and tried this one. Split a bottle with barleyPops. Dark golden yellow pour, big white head. Yeasty, estery aroma. Plenty of fruity notes. Flavor was similar with some subtle hop notes and sourness coming through as well. Good, but not something I’ll drink very often.
