Commercial Description:
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.
Bottled at 5.2% abv - can go up as high as 7.2%

Pours a hazy murk brownish red with a nice active tan head. Aroma of citrus, malt, yeast, spices. Flavor is floral spices, bitterness, fruit, a little sourness. I think i’m starting to get this one.

Bottle. Looks good in the class with a mild but pleasant aroma. Flavor was a little disappointing - a bit bitter but couldn’t pick out too much complexity in the brew. Palate is nice, with very fine carbonation. Overall enjoyable, but prefer the other trappist beers.

Nice amber color with a good foam. Flavor of orange, flowers and malt. Typical trappist bitterness. Loverly beer.

Pours ligth amber/orange with full fluffy sustained head. Aroma is yeasty, floral, citrus and pepper. Flavor to match. Been a while since I’ve had an orval and it stands up to memory.

Hazy orange pour with a thick fluffy white head. Very aromatic. Intense sour and spice aroma. Citrus, clove, and cardamom. Maybe even some floral and honey notes. Slightly sour bitter flavor with lots of fruit. Citrus fruit and spice. Very bitter finish that lingers.

Poured a golden orange with a creamy head and some lacing. Well balanced with citris notes and a little pepper. Great beer, but not one of my favorite Trappists.
