orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA May 28, 2008 Bottled on 12-27-2007 Sudsy-soapy aroma. Brillant appearance; head stays attached in my trappist glass. The orange peel flavors are pronounced and real. Great with the Chimay grand clasique cheese. Nice midpalate attack that smooths out. But! Dissapears on finish. Overall this just wasn’t as exciting as I hoped, especially considering the price tag. Five Dollars for one 12 oz bottle!!! boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle... Poured a brilliant, hazy copper with a frothy head that lasted through the whole drink. Bubbles kept rising from the bottom to the head. Aroma is pleasant with faint hops that mesh with clove and tart citrus. Palate is wonderful, just enough thickness for the realization of it being a beer, but smooth enough to go down easily. Most notable are the citrusy hop flavors that lend towards peppery malt and spices and herbs. Some alcohol presence towards the finish. dyetube (397), Dallas, Texas, USA May 27, 2008 This beer pours a cloudy orange with a big white frothy head! The aroma is citrus, sour fruits. The flavor is a little different from that; dry yeasty and although sour fruit flavors come through, I expected it to me more lively and zesty. This was not a disappointment though, I really like this one. Cheers! kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA May 25, 2008 Updated: Jun 25, 200833cl bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark orange cloudy golden with a thick creamy white head. Smells of caramel, clove, bread, sweet juniper, spice and malt. Tastes of sweet spice, juniper, flowers, grass and caramely malt. Nice belgian trappist ale. gary07734 (391), Tyne & Wear, England May 25, 2008 Updated: Jun 21, 20080.33l bottle.
Pours deep amber, creamy head that quickly dissapears.
Taste is very enjoyable, sour and lemony, with a bit of hops. Some carbonation.
All in all very drinkable. mattmc1973 (300), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA May 24, 2008 11.2 oz bottle, poured amber orange with large foamy white head. Aroma is nice, fruit and citrus. However, smells better than it tastes. Being a Belgian, I expected a sweet flavor. Instead, it was citric, bitter, and sour. Not very tasty to me. Fizzy mouthfeel. A disappointment. idbowman82 (62), Painesville, Ohio, USA May 24, 2008 Very good.
Clouded amber pour with a pillowy whitish head. Very straightfoward--nose is citrus and the taste is hoppy, citric, sour, and has just a hint of malt. The carbonation is heavy, but in a good way. Finishes crisp and dry. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA May 23, 2008 6/2007. Slightly cloudy golden amber orange with a nice, foamy white head. Simple, citrus aroma. Bitter tea leave flavor with grapefruit and light malt. Plenty sour with bright carbonation. A second sharp bitterness at the end. Pretty dry, like a fine champagne. Not really for me, but I can tell why some love it.
