In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Punt d’amargor ideal, molt fŕcil de beure i a sobre no cansa. Es pot demanar algo més?

Pours a clear coppery amber with one frothy finger of persistent off-white head and heavy lacing. Nose is brett funk and sour, Belgian yeast and tart fruit against a malty background. Taste starts bitter, gradually giving way to dark fruit and malt, lingering citrusy hops. Mouth feel is light- to medium-bodied, with a dry finish. Not quite perfect - the taste is initially on the thin side until both thermal and alcohol heating combine to bring out the flavour. Definitely not to be drunk cold.

Drank out of goblet. Aroma: quite faint, would maybe be more noticeable in a tulip, smells a bit of rubbing alcohol and yeast Appearance: huge amount of head, good lacing, apricot colour Taste: kind of dissapointed by this one. Was expecting a big belgian fruity flavor but didn’t get that. Notes of tart cherries and rubbing alcohol Palate: highly carbonated and thin Overall: not how I remembered this beer, just doesn’t compare to the other belgian selections

Ottima birra trappista. Tripel atipica con punta acidula che la rende unica nel suo genere.

0,33 l bottle. Bottled exactly 13 months before. More foamy head than beer in the glass. Uncloudy light orange. Sour hopy on the nose. Starts bitter fruity. Later hopy bitter, with sourness. High carbonated. Don´t expected such a sour beer under the flag of Trappist.

Little hazy orange beer, medium head that stays a long time. Aroma is spicy and cidery. Tastes little like dry apple cider. Some earthy notes.

I find myself again at odds with a few people. This has a huge aroma on opening, but then I found that, for me, it was too sour and cider like, and thin on length, and not a lot of depth. BUT this does not make this a bad beer just one that I might not be in tune with

Pressie from Essie. Poured big head. Cloudy as I poured in the yeast.... Smells great. Tastes great. Not as out there as lots of Belgians. Really like this beer. Could drink lots in one sitting. TASTY!!! Tasted at 6.2%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled on 6/27/2013. Very loud hiss upon cracking the cap. Color is light amber and hazy. Head is composed mostly of large bubbles, but doesn’t dissipate at all. 5 minutes in and the head is still as large as when it was poured. Aroma is reminiscent of a sour, with some funk, citrus, breadiness and apples. Taste is different from the other Belgian ales I’ve tried. Slightly sweet and that barnyard funk is in the forefront. Some oakiness and bitterness, as well as some citrus and apples. Heavy carbonation cleans your palate, and mouthfeel is on the light side of medium. Very complex and enjoyable beer.
