COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2006 Original tasting 12/7/04, rerate 02/07/05, rerate 02/04/06. 330ml brown bottle. Poured cloudy orange, fantastic head and lacing. Earthy, leathery and fruity aromas with lots of sweet orangey, floral hops. Flavour is earhty malts with sweet orange hop flavours, slightly herbal/medicinal qualities. Hoppy bite leads to a dry finish with some yeast. Everytime I have this it gets better and better.

Bottled on 6/27/2013. Very loud hiss upon cracking the cap. Color is light amber and hazy. Head is composed mostly of large bubbles, but doesn’t dissipate at all. 5 minutes in and the head is still as large as when it was poured. Aroma is reminiscent of a sour, with some funk, citrus, breadiness and apples. Taste is different from the other Belgian ales I’ve tried. Slightly sweet and that barnyard funk is in the forefront. Some oakiness and bitterness, as well as some citrus and apples. Heavy carbonation cleans your palate, and mouthfeel is on the light side of medium. Very complex and enjoyable beer.

From 33 cl bottle, 6 months old. Sweet fruit aroma, like sweet summer fruits. Pours clear amber brown with slightly off-white foamy head. Lots lasting. Sour apple. Eathy malts. Light bitterness and light sweet. Watery texture, light carbonation.

Poured into Trappist glass. Cloudy, bronze colored with frothy 2 finger white head. Smells grassy and fruity. As the beer warmed, it tastes a slight sour fruit with malt and slight hop taste to it. Medium, low carbonated palate. Ok beer for me, could of been better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,33 l. nice, unique bottle. Extreme carbonation, hazy, light orange colour. Huge, white, fluffy head. Sophisticated aroma with hops, yeast, wine, ripe fruits some wood and barnyard. Pleasant, herbal bitterness, delicious mild aftertaste, present soft sweetness. Great body. This beer is complete and drinkable though.

@ Röhällavägen. Flaska från Systembolaget (26:-). Syrlig och fruktig, jäst och kryddor, Brett-toner, rejält torr och ganska besk. Avslutningen är torr och besk.

Bottle from my local giant eagle. Can't believe I hadn't had this one before. I was pleasantly surprised. I normally don't like Trappist beers but this one is a bit different. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a full white head. Aroma of funk and grass. Taste has a slight tang and finishes dry. This one was 9 months old at the time of drinking. Very good.

This ale has so much carbonation it is actually hard to drink...at least the two I had did. The flavor, after the initial carbonation is great however
