In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

This beer needs to age. This is just a 2014 bottle and it isn’t tasty as it could be. Still pours amber with a huge head. Yeasts are alive and you can see a carbonation twister spinning from the bottom of the glass. Fruity aroma, taste of malts, but not too complex.

Very cloudy amber with huge off-white head that reduces steadily but leaves persistent skim. Aroma of a sour, with green apple, stone fruit and funk. If chilled, let it warm closer to room temperature to open up. Even so, the upfront taste of this nine-month old bottling is must and heavy aromatics tending toward camphor, as though it were poured from a not particularly well-sealed cedar chest. Some pear notes find there way through, and plentiful carbonation provides a satisfying mouth feel and attractively dry finish. But even with aeration, this lacks the complex flavor profile of many other Trappist ales. I’m going to try again with a bottle aged longer, because this one was disappointing.

Amberish color with huge head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is of yeast and bread and floral with bit of toasty taste to it. Mouthfeel is quite effervescent. Tastes like the Trappist ale you’d expect with dark fruits, dryness, and bready goodness

From a bottle at Franklin's Bar at the Delano in Las Vegas. Pours a dark copper and makes a Belgian thick head with a lot of lacing. Aroma is of yeast and bread and plums. Mouthfeel is quite effervescent. Tastes like the Trappist ale you'd expect with dark fruits, dryness, and bready goodness. You want to savor Orval slowly and don't drink it too cold, the flavored will come alive as it warms up. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy gold pur with white top. Spicy cinamon aroma. Spiced taste with a hint of the banyard. Not your typical trapist as it is more bitter than sweet but fairly balanced. Highly recomended even for tge ones who dont usualy go for Belgian style beers.
