COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.
Bottled at 5.2% abv - can go up as high as 7.2%

Pale hazy orange colour Huge white foamy head. Aromas of banana, lemon, This stays at the front of the mouth, doesn't quite fill it out, and only last a second, I see where the "dryness" description comes from. Diff style than the other Belgians but not quite for me, lacks the body and structure you'd expect. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours clear and amber in colour, with fantastic cloud-like and very thick head that stays for long during drinking. In aroma malt, bread, bretts and some hoppiness, floral hints on the back. In taste sour but the beer is very balanced with malty base. The beer is dry, quite bitter for belgian beer. carbonation is very fizzy. Must have if you are discovering world of Belgian beers.

Aroma is immediately a slight funkiness and sour grapes tone. Light sweet malt and dark fruits. Taste is light sweet malts accompanied again by sour grapes, maltiness, slight earthiness and yeastiness. Appearance is a cloudy orange with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

33 cl@Belgian hotel bar in Orval Trappist glass@approx 10 degrees C. Pours slightly hazy light golden with a white head. Turns into a fair amount of lacing with litlle creamy clots of foam. Very nice floral aroma with citrus, yeast and pine. First impression is the sourness of this Trappist, too sour for my taste, but then it unfolds, mirroring the aroma with citrus, yeast and pine backed up by a very dry, malty taste. Bitterness of the hops appears in the quite short aftertaste. Atypical Trappist - perhaps the "summer Trappist" in its sour lightness. Not my favourite Trappist, but still a good and complex beer.

Aun no siendo un estilo que me apasione tengo probadas unas cuantas. Sabor a lupulo y levadura, con el olor tipico de las trapenses. Espuma media, buen cuerpo.

This is a timeless standard brew. Although it is not my favourite trappist, I always have a good time drinking this. The first good thing is that it has quite a low abv for all the taste provided. It is visually perfect. It can be drunk anytime. I only blame for the too high carbonation (just wait a few minutes before drinking) and the odd (but it is part of the legend) "no finish at all".
