COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In contrast to all the others, the Orval Trappist brewery makes only one beer for the general public. It has an intensely aromatic and dry character. Between the first and second fermentations there is also an additional dry-hopping process. Through this the beer acquires its pronounced hoppy aroma and extra dry taste.

Wow,you need a sledgehammer to get rid of this head :-) Lovely complex beer but quite bitter for a trappist. I will certainly add some bottles to my cellar for ageing.

big and strong off-white foam, nice lacing, amber, clear; fruity, yeasty, barnyard and acidic aroma; medium bitterness, lightly sweet and sour; medium body, tart, crisp, lively carbonation, long very dry finish; Overall: a great one, high drinkability, great aroma, perfect look, tasty

One of a kind. Appears amber/red with a foamy, almost endless head. Retains an olive kind of bitterness, thanks to its hops and its yeast.

330ml bottle, from Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Nice and fresh, only a couple of months old so much less of the bitterness I remember from my last bottle. Pours hazy amber with medium white head. Nice sweet hoppy aroma. Taste is fresh, hoppy, sweet, with light saison-esque spice and ultra high carbonation. Refreshing and hugely enjoyable beer.

Hazy copper with debris and enormous off white head. Aroma of fermented fruit funk. Light slightly sweet malt taste, some citrus bitter. Herbal spice funk brett in the finish.

It smells amazingly fruity. Definitely dry and leaves a bitter taste that I can't describe. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled 19-Oct-2011, aged at room temperature (20C) and drank 28-Feb-2015. Great head but it did not remain for long. Persistent high Aromas of sherry, aged alcohol, aged plums, figs, old hops. No malt aroma detected. Flavors of leather, earth. Low bready, biscuity malt flavor. Alcohol taste is smooth, aged. Acidity is low to medium, not lactic or acetic, but like a good wine. Mouthfeel is medium thin, with good carbonation; little warming alcohol. No astringency. Aftertaste is short, pleasant and dry. A bit odd but I did not pick brett in the aroma as I expected.

For me this is the perfect beer. Golden amber beer with a creamy head that lasts and lasts. The aroma is citrus and hoppy. The taste is slightly bitter but the palate is perfect and well balanced. I love this beer!
