detroitsteel (208), England Dec 12, 2006 Updated: Aug 28, 2007 I first drank Orval in a cafe in Brussels, and I’m a big fan, but I’ve tried to be objective in my rating. Its is a dry, hoppy beer compared to the other Trappists, refreshing and complex. I’ll cut to the chase - a great beer. If you’re reading this and haven’t tried it, go out a buy one now! Another retrospective re-rate. Again I got carried away with the final score.
holybrew (5), Bangalore, India does not count May 12, 2008 Drank this at the hard rock cafe bangalore. Pours a beautiful orange with a half inch head. Aromas of citrus. Taste is very complex with the hops becoming apparent in the finish. Cannot feel the alcohol - excellent beer, totally unique. BonVoeux (34), Beveren-Leie, Belgium May 11, 2008 Tasted more times. Yesterday again.
Bottle, 33 cl.
Color = amber, good off-white head. Great aroma, fruity, spice.
Flavour is also top, good bitterness.
grandridge (77), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA May 9, 2008 Quality, pours light brown with a large head. It has an aroma of champagne, spices, citrus, and lemon. Taste: sweet and dry. Good Stuff. MissDolle (14), Odense, Denmark May 9, 2008 Pours unclear orange with a creamy white foam. Aroma and taste is fruity orange, malts, yeast and spices. Fine mouthfell. Thumbs up to the munks!! MatSciGuy (98), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA May 8, 2008 [bottle] Pours cloudy, hazy gold with a huge, rocky off white head. Tart aroma is huge, and noticeable from a few feet away. Lots of apple, lemon zest, and some orange and grapefruit in there as well. Taste is quite striking. Very tart, with lots of citric hop notes, lemon, yeast, and a slightly underbalanced malt sweetness. Very light on the tounge with a remarkably dry finish.
