3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2011 Bottle. Poured a murky amber with some orange undertones and a huge white foamy head that was mostly diminishing but had fantastic lacing.
The aroma was heavy of a straw like malt, a moderate floral hop and a moldy scented yeast with notes of dried fruit (raisins), a hint of spice and some citrus (lemon and maybe orange) with a mild alcohol tinge.
It tasted a malty, a little bitter and slightly sour with a hint of a peppery spice in the beginning and finished lightly bitter and yeasty with notes of fruit, citrus and a slight alcohol tinge at the end. The flavor was left to linger for a while, leaving a light sourness on the palate.
Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and a little oily in texture with the carbonation being quite pronounced, almost prickly in feel.
Overall a fantastic Trappist Ale, I can see now why the Monks only brew this one beer.

Todo un clásico belga, que no puede defraudar, una pena que se esté extinguiendo poco a poco.

33cl bottle, pours a cloudy orange/brown with very persistent frothy head. Aroma of cloves and yeast and slight citrus. Taste similar to aroma, dry, bitter with slightly sour finish. A great example of a Belgian trappist ale

Bottle at home from Freshfields in Croydon. Pours hazy dark orange with impressive white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of orange peel, herbs and a little fink. Tastes of coriander, orange with a hint of funk. Really nice.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Mooi oranje trappistenbier met flinke schuimkraag. Licht zuurtje, veel hop. Mooie balans, redelijk dun.

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
How could such a masterpiece have such a low rating. Any official Trappist should start at 4.5 and move up. Pours cloudy with a very thick foamy head, beautiful aroma of sweet flowers, essence and love. Great beer but not at the top on the Trappist list for me.
