4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
So far it’s the best beer according to price/value that I was able to find in Cork. And I think that it’s very popular - today is the first day for the two weeks when I saw it in Aldi among other O’Sheas ales.
This is what guinness stout should be.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Aldi, Carrick-on-Shannon
Black, frothy bubbly tan head, good lacing
Aroma og soft dark malts, smooth mellow roast, touch of dark toffee, soft coffee, mocha notes
Taste of dark quite rich malts, more roast but still mellow, dark bitter chocolate, soft coffee, sweet dark malts, dark chocolate malts, tasty
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, smooth, good mouthfeel, soft sweet. Finish of smooth dark chocolate malts, some soft roast
Overall - Best of the O’Shea’s bunch. Better than O’Hara’s Irish Stout. Sort of a lower abv version of Leann Follain. Good stuff.
PS Did have some more 2 weeks later, not quite as good, more burnt bitter finish and a little rough (3.3), but will try again soon

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice unexpected stout. Until I came home with this and saw that it was contract brewed by Carlow, I was thinking this was going to be a watery, tasteless, forgettable stout, but in fact this is the opposite. Nice roasty malt backbone with a distinctive chocolate and coffee finish that makes this a really nice treat.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Mahogany brown, big tan head. Dusty roast malt and hints of chocolate in the aroma. More subtle roast malt in the flavour balanced by a gentle bitterness from the hops. Oily texture, quite a thin mouthfeel means easy drinking, and medium carbonation. Finish is nice and malty. Very good and great value.
