COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What did oSKAr the G’Rauch say to the face? Slap! Aromas of freshly-peeled orange and apricots with a touch of……..smoke? Juicy citrus and fruit flavors dominate but don’t overpower the slightly sweet malt structure. Finish is all citrus rind ping-ponging with some smoky phenols

A cloudy amber beer with a sweet citrus malt smell. The citrus and sweet battle the malts for control of the taste. Its refreshing and almost has a pulp to it. There are lots of subtleties that can be missed. taste carefully.

From the perspective of adhering to the style I think this missed the mark. However, this is a really good beer. The aroma is one of floral hops with a small hint of smoke. The color is a nice copper with a decent head. The carbonation is at a good level. Hops are the main flavor, which masked the smokiness, which was barely noticeable. There is a nice malt background with a small wood essence.

Tap at Plan B, Springfield, 19/05/13. Hazed golden amber with a thin off white head. Nose is hops, pine, sugar, orange pith, citrus notes, very light smoke character. Taste comprises hops, grapefruit, light spice, orange pith, caramel, mineral notes coated in a good level of background spice that doens’t over power. Full end of medium bodied with fine carbonation, touch of hop bitterness in a delicately smoked finale. A well worked smoke beer, the smoke carries a good presence but integrates well and allows the other flavours to shine through.

On tap at Proof. Orange pour with thin white and sparse soapy lacing. Aroma is resiny citrus and caramel. Tastes are smoke, tropical citrus, caramel, lemon, buttery, pine. Interesting, but not my thing.

Dark orange, hazy... it has a fine, bubbly white head and spotty lacing. It’s really a good looking beer. The nose is a little doughey, woody, and has a distinctive, tobacco-like aroma that I can only pin on the smoked malt because I know it’s to blame. Very neat, different, with a touch of caramel and mint. That tobacco-like smoke invades the palate, with the slightly caramel-laden double IPA flavor balancing it out. It ends much easier than up front, soft actually, with a really lovely finish. I like it... malty, hoppy, and more reminiscent of jerky than straight up smoke. Nice body. Meaty, but light.

Clear red/golden with a medium sized white head and some lacing. Aroma was fruity, smokey and citrus. Flavor was the same but with caramel malts and finished with bitter citrus
Good, a smoky IPA!

Draft at Proof. Hazy orange pour with a bubbly white head. Citrus hop, caramel malt aroma with a hint of smoke. Flavor is sweet malt up front with citrusy hops mid palate ending with a smoky kick. Not bad, very approachable smoked style beer.
