4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap - small foamy head, nice medium amber/orange color, excellent citrus hop aroma and flavor with a good malt backbone - seems to be really more of an Imperial IPA than a regular IPA

Big body and hop profile for a straight IPA. I think I am burping pine cones. Seriously thought this was going to come up on the double IPA list but here we are at a serious straight IPA that shames many others into even considering themselves in the same category. Pours a deep orange almost red, seriously delicious. I can smell the thing from about 3 feet away. Pungent citrus and grapefruit with a touch of pine working in the aroma. Body is big and bold. You get hit with a sticky resiny pine flavor up front and have to search to find the caramel sweetness working in the background and rounding this out a bit. The pine stays with you all the way through the experience finishing up with a grapefruit bitterness and orange peel. Nice work guys. The price point is not ideal to getting this on a regular basis but for a one shot deal this was very enjoyable.

Strong citrus aroma with a medium head. Golden in color. Taste isn't all there but has a nice bitter finish!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Smell hinted at hoppiness, but not obnoxiously. Sweet fructose hints. Citrus bitterness dominates the taste, but very full and complex, and complimented by a nice sweetness that is not too much. Palate is a bit too frothy and leaves a sour longer aftertaste. Had at Lyons brew pub 7/12.

Can. Pours dark amber with thick, frothy tan head. Aroma of piney hops. Taste is resinous hops with caramel malt. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. Another great offering by OB. So glad to have them in Bama, finally. Welcome Home!

6/12/12 notes: Bottle, 13.99 4 pack at Bevmo. A polarizing beer for sure, and to me its greatest accomplishment is how they preserve all that abundant hop aroma in the can to be released at first crack! Dank, grapefruit and lemon pith nose. Fresh hop tea. Body is smooth, a bit more creamy than I would have imagined. Flavor starts with a surprisingly mild and biscuity notes, easing into some ripe tangerine and more pith. Finish is full and long, slightly spicy and bitter.

Hops are resiny, and not enough fruitiness for my liking. Finishes dry. Pretty good overall. but not over the top good. The regular Dales is better bang for your buck.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2014 A really solid example of the style, lots of resinous hop notes with a pretty flavorful malt profile that isn’t sweet and offers nice light caramel notes. Another good offering from OB.

16 oz. can. Amber/red pour with a nice white head. This is one awesome and hoppy beer. The resiny hops bring the aroma to the front and there is some light maltiness present as well. The bitterness in the taste is just right. A strong IPA at 8%, and it just kills it. Way to go Oskar Blues!

Draft @ Monster B’s. An aggressively hopped IPA with sweet caramel malt notes. Lots of bitterness and some grass notes. Medium to heavy body. Pretty good, but I prefer Dale’s Pale Ale.
