COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Perfect for these cool winter nights, The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the Canned Revolution!

16 oz can from Healthy Spirits in SF. Poured copper with an evaporating beige head and a toffee and citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt base with serious level of IBUs. The finish is puckeringly bitter and stays on the palate. If you crave hop bitterness, you will like this one, but itís a little over the top for me.

Pint-size can. Poured crystal-clear reddish-orange with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up juicy orange, pine, pineapple, and perfumey hoppage over sweet caramel and citrus meat.. hop-forward and very enticing. The flavor was along the same lines, but not quite as vibrant.. orange, pine, and grapefruit bitterness was heavy over fruity meat and caramel again.. very bitter, peppery, and a touch soapy on the long finish. Medium-bodied and very bitter as mentioned on the palate.. just a little sharp at times.. overall a great brew!

16 oz. Can. Iíve found my IPA! I love lots of IPAís, but I think Iíve fallen IN love with this one. Foamy head over a burnt orange, translucent bronze appearance. Grassy hop scent with a sweet sugary tinge. The medium bodied palate had a sticky texture. Bitter grass taste, huge hop, with a sweet middle, and a biting bitter finish. Delicious!

16oz can pours a hazy, dark orange with a thin, lacing, creamy white head. Nose is strong, big citrus, resinous hop pellets, oranges, earthy, pine, soap, sticky sap, grapefruit. Sweet, bitter flavor, candied oranges, pine sap, honey, light caramel, lemon zest, grapefruit pulp. Full bodied, sweet, zesty finish. I liked the 2012 version of this far more than the 2012 version of Hopslam. Really drinkable, tons of flavor.

Can. A nice dark copper color with a white head. This could be mistaken for a double IPA given the intense hop aroma and big dry bitter finish. It has a nice sweet malty compliment to the hop profile.

16 may 2012, can. yellow with faint orange hue, clear, steady bubbles, foamy head. nose is strong grapefruit citrus with the slightest of alcohol sweetness. thin body and fizzy. this is great! grapefruit rind with noticeable maltiness and some alcohol sweetness, but the hops still have the dominant edge, finishing with a slight oiliness. great!

Big hoppy beer. Hoppyness tastes like onion, only have had from the can so havenít smelled it or seen it, only pounded a couple of these tall boys one evening after work and felt real good and thoroughly enjoyed the big bitter.

16oz tall boy can. Clear amber/orange with a dense light beige head. Aroma of pine, flowers, grapefruit and toffee. Flavor is very well balanced bitter hops and sweet caramel malt, the alcohol is well hidden. Medium body with soft carbonation and a long bitter finish. Really good IPA, lots of fresh hop aroma and flavor and super drinkable at 8% abv.

Can from Mars Cheese Castle. Pours a deep gold, hints of copper. Frothy whitish head. Nose is big and resiny hops, some juicy citrus notes and a hint of caramel and perhaps a touch of oxidation? This was canned ~1mth ago. Nose is decent. On tasting, huge bitterness, some warming alcohol and a big malt body. Some faint caramel. Lots of citrus and pine notes. Seems a lot like the PNW type of IPA. Solid, just not really my preferred style.
