COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Perfect for these cool winter nights, The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the Canned Revolution!

Rusty color with a foam white head. Smell is heavy on citrus and piney hops. Tons of sticky hop taste. Resinous hops and a sticky mouthfeel. Nice.

Light amber with a thin white head, aroma is piney with a tiny bit of grass. Flavor is big pine hops up front balanced out by a good malt presence. Slight grapefruit in the finish. Very tasty IPA, excellent with spicy food.

Clear copper with a quickly dissipating tan head and a frothy ring of lace. Aroma of grapefruit, caramel, citrus, orange and a touch of pine. Taste is a bit boozy with citrus, caramel, grapefruit, garlic, herbal notes and mild pine. Full bodied with moderate bitterness on the finish.

there is a funky malt and turpentine character to this brew, salty, like bad eggs and butterscotch. This was an interesting enough thing to experience ten years ago but a couple thousand beers later and i know a little more. There are good components to this brew and it gives a good enough kick but overall eeeehhhh!?

Can-canned on 4/23, just over a month old. pours lightly hazy orange with a small soapy white head around the rim of the glass. have to admit, nose is decent, yet un-refined: apricots, pine, lite tropical tones. however, i wouldnt call this dank by any regard (see any alpine ipa/apa-thats dank!). lots of toasted carmel malts on the nose as well, giving it some balance. for my tastes, this ipa has flavors all over the place-starts out sweet lightly metallic tropical notes with a harsh, abrasive metallic hop flavors with topical undertones. however, the malt profile seems mudled and un-refined./mushy. My main problem with this beer is the hop profile-astringent bitterness (dont get me wrong, i love a piney/grapefruity ipa/apa), however, this one comes across very abrasive, metallic and unpleasant. For an ipa that rates at a 3.8, i will choose many ipa’s over this that rate in the same area (SNCA, Schalfly AIPA, Founders Cenntenial). badly over-rated

1 pint can. Different label than that in the picture. Canned on: 03/30/12. A hazy rust pour with a big & creamy beige head. A pungent aroma of oranges, grapefruits, pine trees, freshly cut grass, and a little caramel in the background. Full-bodied, kinda creamy, and just a tad sticky on the way down. Caramel maltiness upfront taste-wise. Kinda grainy in the middle. Earthy. Lots of grapefruits, citrus rinds, and some juicy oranges at the end. Resiny and piney. The finish is bitter and dry. Warming alcohol is present throughout.

Can->shaker: Pours a thin, white, diminishing head atop a cloudy, amber body. Highly aromatic of hops, some sweetness, overall very pleasing and up front aroma. Highly carbonated on the palate, starting out mildly sweet, finishing and lasting bitter, but not overly-so. There is a tinge of sweetness in there, but not much. This is a very rich and filling beer.

LtDan (1784) - Los Angeles County, California, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Appearance: Pours a fairly clear amber gold with a white head that subsides to a cap of frothy bubbles.

Aroma: Pineapple, mango apricot, caramel.

Taste: Tropical dried fruit, earthy bitterness, caramel/toffee sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Active carbonation full bodied.

Overall: Fairly tasty. I could always use a little more bitterness, I’m guessing they are going for a wider audience with the level of sweetness this beer has.

Rated from notes. Tallboy can, pours hazy dark orange, verging on a brick red. Good, slightly off-white head. Huge dankness in the aroma: sweet onion, soil, bitter, bitter citrus hops. Digs into your taste buds: overripe mandarin orange, bracing astringency, and more onion-y notes. Big, full mouthfeel. Prickly finish. A bit different, pretty good.

Can. Pours reddish amber with white head. Nose/taste of caramel, hops, malt, pine and woody alcohol. Medium body. Dry bitter wood finish.
