This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Perfect for these cool winter nights, The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the Canned Revolution!

From the 16oz can. Dark gold pour with a thick white head. Big pungent fresh citrus and pine hop aroma. Medium body, crisp fresh malt with a nice hop bite in the taste. Nice dry bitterness in the finish. Good brew.

Pours a light copper in color with minimal light head. Aroma is a strong spicy-sweet piney citrus with a sappy feel to it. Taste is sweet and bitter with a honey-like aftertaste that envelops the mouth. This is an excellent IPA with a perfect balance between malt and hops.

12oz can. Poured a deep clear golden color with a thick white head, that had good retention and lacing. Big floral and citrus hops arom with a little hint of caramel and cereal grains. Flavor is excellent with tons of hops all the way through from start to finish, with toffe, cereal grains, and doughy bread peaking through in the middle. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice and low carbonation.

16 oz. can. Clear orange/amber pour. Nose holds big scallion, onion, sticky resin, leek, ramps, caramel and orange zest. Reminds me of a less complex Surly Abrasive, but still I like the aggression. Nice.

500ml can as a bonus. Clear perfect amber with a billowy light tan head. Not drinking it during a cold winter night but its still tasty - some great earthy and citrus (grapefruit mostly, some tangerine) hops, nice malt. Moderate carbonation, full body, fairly bitter, wet and weedlike if that makes sense, becomes a little sweet and quite dry at the end, hops coat the palate, very tasty.

Doughy khaki head over orange amber. Aroma of citrus & leather, distant honey. Flavors of grapefruit, resin, smoke & alcohol. balance tipped a toward the hops & a lighter body. tasty though.

Orangy color with small pale head. Aroma pine-like hops and malts. Medium-full body. Minimal alcohol presence. Flavor is expectedly bitter with nice presence of hops of the floral, herbal, and pine type. Strong malt background. Good balance. The obligatory comparison to regular Dale’s would suggest it is quite similar but of greater power and less refreshing.

(can) Pours a clear dark copper color with a tall white head that takes awhile to subside and leaves good lacing. Aroma of cinnamon red hots, sweet bread dough, cotton candy, and lime zest. Herbal qualities emerge as well. Mint and bay leaf. This is a really weird combo that works well together somehow. The flavor is a little more straightforward, with the standard caramel yielding to a mid of tropical fruit that unfolds to a dry and pretzel-esque finish that is followed by a substantially dry bitterness that lasts for quite some time. Mouthfeel is chewy and carbonation is perfect. Thought I’d be underwhelmed by this beer, but I’ve gotta admit that it’s pretty good.
