COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Perfect for these cool winter nights, The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the Canned Revolution!

Dark but bright orange/amber pour with light beige head. Nose is sweet resin, orange zest, and some bready malts. Some garlicy-onion notes. But mostly a huge amount of soapy, resiny hops. Sweet but still very bitter and astringent palate. Waxy palate.

20120406 16oz can from Friendship WL (glad to see they’ve made strides in the beer dept lately btw!). Medium amber with even carbonation visible beneath small but lasting film of creamy beige head. Aroma is sulfurous, green onion, and yellow cake. Flavor is a bit vegetal, beany, more sweet cake, and thick with serious C hops. Pithy, harshly resinous, long lingering resinous bitterness, and a bit of sweetness that lasts at the end. Nothing special beyond the admittedly awesome packaging, but it’s good. At $13.50 a 4-pk I probably wouldn’t buy it again. And by probably, I mean never.

keanex (1290) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - APR 6, 2012
Poured into a Duvel tulip from a 16 ounce can canned on 3-20-2012.

A: Crystal clear dark amber body with a decent sized light tan rocky head.

S: Bitter citrus and pine hops.

T: Bready malts with a slightly peppery citrus up-front with a grapefruit and pine bite. Definitely a hop lover’s beer.

M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation finishing sharp.

O: Solid IPA (or is it a IIPA?) showcasing hops, but not much of anything else.

Aromas of citrus and pine. Pours clear copper, white head. Bitter, in the beginning and bitter in the end. Finish is very dry, and a bit astringent, a good thing. Overall, a most excellent IPA.

Tall boy. That’s the ’coolest’ thing about this brew, sadly. Orange amber, no haze, small white head. Nose is very sweet, almost candied hops, i can just see the sugar cones breaking off into the beer. Flavor is similarly very sugary, also some wild onion, grape juice, light butter. Ugh. Not a huge fan of regular Dales so I’m not too surprised at my reaction to this one.

Pour is a crystal clear mahogany color with a small tan head. Nose is of citric hops mostly. Taste is light, similar to the nose, with a little more of a floral backbone.

Can. Clear copper pour, with an off white head. Lots of citrus, pine, and dank hops in the aroma. Flavor has similar hop profile, pretty dank, with lots of bready malt and caramel sweetness. Too much caramel for my liking. Ok

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2013 4/4: Pours a clean sharp copper with two fingers of creamy sandy tan head. Nose is resinous and well balanced, lots of green hop character and bready/toasted/biscuity. Very sharp and resinous with a garlic/onionlike quality (Summit?). Not a fan of the flavor, sharp and waxy/bitter. Has a weird almost chemically character to it. Very heavy with hop resins. Citrus and pine resin all over the place. Oily with a medium body and sharp bitterness on the finish. *shudder* 3/15: Pours a soft peachy orange with two fingers of sticky khaki tan head. Very nice aroma, candied flowers and sharp citrus with an almost melony lime character. Very intriguing nose. Round and almost candy-ish quality in the flavor, very pronounced bitterness. About all I can taste is a candy-ish sweetness and some citrus.

Clear copper pour pour with an off white head and spotty lace. Aroma is resinous pine, grapefruit and a little peach. Fairly hoppy (mostly grapefruit) with a decent malty backbone. Lingering bitter finish
