COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Perfect for these cool winter nights, The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the Canned Revolution!

UPDATED: APR 25, 2014 I wish my bike was this color. Poured into snifter from pint can. Smells and tastes like your classic IPA. So far I prefer Dales and G’night to Deviant, but still good nonetheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16 oz can, clear amber hue with creamy tan lasting head, decent lacing, smells of pine and spice, not overly bitter but stays in the back ie prolonged aftertaste that is a bit funky yet somewhat of a silky texture similar to Dale’s Pale Ale, decent malt characteristic, relatively strong coupled with larger can size, more of a spiced hop rather than citrus, therefore; better in the colder seasons, overall pretty nice

Can: Amber color with sunburst edges. Modest haze throughout, topped with a soapy, off-white head. Sticky webbing left on the glass. Aroma is exceedingly pungent, a bit excessive. Insanely resinous & piney, full of hot hop oils & staunch booze. Also get some heavy green onion & borderline garlic notes? Summit? I didn’t think so... But what the hell. Heavy fusels in the back-end. Some grapefruit, some dankness. Overly abrasive. Same on the palate, but even worse. Spicy, almost. Pungent hop oils, resins, pine needles, alcohol, onion, & a strong, weedy, vegetal note in the finish. Strong caramel malt, adding a bit of unwarranted sweetness to this hot fucken mess. Sticky, abrasive body. I truly don’t understand the love for this beer. Dale’s Pale is really nice, but this is just an overdone train wreck.

On tap at Brewdog Manchester. Pours amber with small off-white head. Fruity and hoppy aroma. Caramel, hops, fruit and pine in flavor. Lasting bitter finish.

16 oz. can. Pours a beautiful sunset blood orange with a 2 finger white head. Gobs and gobs of thick lace that you have to scrape off the glass when you’re done. Citrus hop aroma with secondary earth. Juicy citrus seemingly explodes in your mouth upon first sip. Lightly balanced. Semi bitter finish with a medium body.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a tumbler on 08.16.14. A: Red grapefruit, spice, hop resin, and malt. Complex and delicious smelling. A: 2 finger super fluffy head with a careful pour. See through blood orange body. T: Mango and pineapple dominate. Hop resin, spice, and malt are subtle. P: Creamy. Great carbonation. O: The malt is there, so it’s not really a West Coast style IPA, but it has the hop presence of one. Tropical fruit is in the front and it has a spicy back end. It is though, a tropical fruit bomb. It looks fantastic too. It is complex, well-balanced, and really a fantastic IPA all around!

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, clean, silky & smooth. Drying in the aftertaste. A simple straightforward IPA that is called a pale ale.
