This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Perfect for these cool winter nights, The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the Canned Revolution!

Can picked up at Premier Gourmet. Pour is a true copper , white head and a good amount of lacing. Nose is a nice floral hop. Tastes as expected, sweet hop , a little bitter, with caramel mealtimes alcohol is not quite you would suspect because I is so subdued. Very good.

Pour is a dark orange with a large white head. Aroma is a nice pungent hop with an equally nice sticky malt backbone. Flavor is more of a nice fresh hop with a chewy caramel malt bringing things up. This is a solid but heavier mouthfeel than usual IPA.

This is a great higher gravity IPA. Not truly as hoppy as they say. Deschutes Fresh squeezed or Gr Flash W Coast IPA seem hoppier. In reality Deviant a bit maltier. So the malt/hop ratio can obscure true hop content. Nonetheless, this is a great Bier. If you like IPAs, this is Dales Pale Ale beefed up to IPA. And I love it!

On tap. Served a mahogany color with a small head and bits of lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, citrus, pine and trace of malt and booze.Taste of citrus, dark fruit, bit of pine and malt sweetness. Good bitterness and a dry finish. Mediumbody, crisp with a nice hop bite. Enjoyable beer worth checking out.

It poured a hazy amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of caramel, citrus, peach and pine. The taste was a little sweet and medium bodied with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Good stuff.

Keg at BD Brum, 8/5/14. Pours burnt orange amber, offwhite head. Nose of caramel, pine resin, citrus and a kind of oniony dankness. Tastes fairly sweet caramel, then big bitterness, lots of orange, lots of pine and plenty more onion. Not in a bad way though, I quite like this Summit character.

Pour slightly hazy mahogany, with a small white head. Aroma has smoe caramel, faint grass, pine.. Somewhat tasty bitter taste, but has a very malty-sweetness to it. Medium bodied, with a fizzy carb.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2014 Canned 10/15/14, so still fresh by my standards (I think pale ales, including IPAs, are just fine within three months). Popped open the can: ugh. Big pine, catty aroma Iím not fond of in some IPAs. Flavor unfortunately follows suit, though there is also some resin I like. Not noticing the fruit. Maybe this isnít at the right temp. Iíll give it more time and see if I can re-rate. Got a four-packer, and I liked their pale ale, so Iím hoping to avoid drainpours here! NEXT DAY UPDATE: This stuff is still vile to my nose and taste buds. Onion, garlic, body odor, cat pee, pine. Ugh. Had to drainpour the whole pack. Disappointed. :(

16 oz can from BOTW, shared with Phil. Deep amber/copper with a decent orange-tan head. Really big grapefruit, brown sugar, resinous, peppery, fruity malts, big stuff. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Very big and spicy, peppery, resinous, less fruity and friendly than the nose; off-dry with fairly big bitterness and a long burnt sugar, resinous, peppery finish.
