COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is intended to be a sensory assault for hop lovers. At 8.0% ABV, four hop additions during the brew process, and a final wallop of excessive Columbus dry-hopping, this beer is meant to say one thing: MORE HOPS! Perfect for these cool winter nights, The Deviant is a returning favorite from the little brewery in Lyons, Colorado that started the Canned Revolution!

Bottle shared at De Molen tasting. Pours clear dark golden with a white head. Flavour is very fruity with grapefruit, some caramel malts and a big hoppiness. Taste is sweet and fruity with a medium to heavy bitterness. Nice one.

This IPA poured a cloudy, deep Amber colour with a smooth, cream coloured head. Scents include dough, basements, citrus hops. First swig was smooth with a wallop of hops. Not the most but a good dose. Flavours of tea, grass and a little caramel most prominent. Finish is quit bitter with tea/citrus flavours lingering.

Tall can from Chevy Chase Beer and Wine. Dark amber body with medium head. Nose is spicy and hoppy. Taste really nice up front, lots of hops with malty caramel balance. And then - boom! - more hops. Really good stuff.

You can smell the hops as soon as you pop the can. Good, clean, earthy hops with just a hint of malt to balance it out. Very pretty dark orange color with an off white fluffy head of foam. The taste is hoppy but not bitter and just sweet enough to keep it from being one-dimensional. Nice thick palate that coats the mouth but still allows the beer to be easy drinking. This was excellent. I prefer it to regular Dale’s Pale Ale.

Can. A- Pine, tropical fruits. A- Dark orange color, hazy liquid, tan head. T- Pine, bitter, tropical fruits, resin. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter juicy finish. O- As someone who is not overly fond of IPA’s, a beer like Deviant Dales reminds me why I can still appreciate a good IPA even if I don’t love them. From the color to the aroma to the balanced taste, this was a solid beer. Maybe not my ideal beer, but a good one for an IPA lover.

Poured from a 16oz tall boy. Pours a rich caramel color with a creamy off-white head. Great aroma, full of bread and cereal under a more dank hop presence. The flavor is equally balanced. Caramel (and a tiny bit of fruit) malt quickly gives way to a solid hop finish. Another very good offering from Oscar Blues.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2015 A beer’s can says a lot about the brewery it came from and the liquid inside. If the recognizable red, white, and blue can coloration of Dale’s Pale Ale could be personified, Dale would be the upstanding citizen who campaigns for truth, justice, and the American way. With its black, red, and silver tall boy, Deviant Dale’s India Pale Ale would be Dale’s evil twin. Fans of the much-loved DPA will note the similarities in this IPA. The balance and tropical notes are still there. However, there’s more booze and more hops. And more is good. Deviant Dale’s has a dank, resinous hop aroma, but there’s some malt hiding out in the background. Flavor showcases juicy, bittersweet grapefruit, berry, guava, passion fruit, papaya, pine, and caramel malt. This IPA sports an orange-red color, a rocky, long-lasting head, and gorgeous lacing. I must say, this is a criminally underrated IPA. Not many brewers do justice to hops like Oskar Blues.

Can. Clear orange colour. Lots of alcohol, lots of bitterness, lots of hops flavour. Orange, citrusy, zesty, resiny. Intense. Very good.

Can kindly shared by Miro, many thanks. Amber color with medium off-white head. Caramel malt, citrus hops in aroma. Solid malty base followed by nice citrus hops with zest, resin. Long hoppy bitter finish. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Tasty.

Slightly hazy dark copper pour with a three finger, fluff of white head that has great retention. Aroma is big on citrus peel, some pine, herbal and thistle-like earthy floral hops, dark caramel, a hint of toffee, biscuit, and husky, spicy, rye-like grain. Flavor is dark caramel, spicy and earthy, rye-like grain, citrus peel, sweet and earthy floral, herbal, quite a bit of pine, just a hint of dankness and a little toffee. Medium body, slightly syrupy to chewy feel, light to medium, blanketing carbonation and a pretty substantial hop acid bite, especially to the teeth. Really good stuff overall, it’s definitely always nice to see a well balanced pine forward IPA that isn’t oily and weird.
