Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. Appearance: dark ruby, more like a IIPA than an imperial red. Aroma: citrus out the Ying yang with some sweet caramel malt backing it up. Taste: sweet malt and a citrus bang from the hops. Overall: really nice imperial red, although not so much red in appearance and flavour. Otherwise, such an easy drinking IIPA.

Burk. Fyllig lite syrlig fruktig doft. Doften balanserad o angenäm. Smaken lite syrlig som är signifikativt för en red ipa. Här är röda bär som bärs upp av en trevlig maltighet. Ölen krämig i munnen med en bra balanserad beska. Bra.

12 ounce can. Orange copper with a frothy beige head. Rich caramel malt nose with piney hops. Chewy roasted malt flavor has burnt caramel and spicy notes. Rich and malty with toasted nuts and dried fruit notes. Fruity malt in middle. Resiny hops in finish. Sticky mouthfeel. Overall, an excellent Red Ale with a complex balanced flavor.

Thanks to Mr Knight for your service, and thanks to Oskar Blues for the fantastic tribute. Tap to a tulip. Big amber beer with a hearty fine bubbled leggy head. Nose is all amber. Front has a honey amber sweetness. Certainly sticky lips. Hops plunge right to a warm malty middle. Finish seems quick, but pleasing and clean.

From 12oz can to snifter. Pour is a nice ruby red orange, thick white head. Nose is hoppy, malt, piney, citrus. Taste is medium bodied, bitter but touches of sweet coming through. Finishes slightly dry but with a long taste on the palate. Good beer

Keg at Brewdog Manchester. A clear orangey copper colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of toasted malts, some caramel, orange, slight pine, a little chocolate and a touch of whisky warmth. Taste of toasted malts, some caramel, orange, subtle grapefruit, a little chocolate, slight brown sugar and a kind of spirit warmth. Full bodied and a sticky texture. A sweetish, orangey, spirity finish. An interesting beer, complex aroma and flavour that I believe my tastebuds aren’t good enough to describe. Sweeter than I thought and not as boozy. Good.
