Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. Brassy colored with a luscious, hoppy beige head. Full bodied hop aroma akin to an American Strong Ale. Powerful fruity, juicy, pineapple and floral hoppiness. Strong juicy, punchy hop body with a blend of grapefruit, pineapple, and orange, with a touch of vodka. Alcohol presence amplifies the fruit notes. Strong stuff, but there is a enough balance to hold this together.

Pours a gorgeous reddish color with excellent lacing and decent head retention. Smells malty and bitter. Not much floral aroma, but it is a red after all. Tastes of alcohol and lots of malt. A great beer!

This unique double IPA has an amber hue and white head. Monster aromas of sticky / piney / resiny hops are unforgettable. Seriously overhopped, but the caramel maltiness is what makes this more than just another IPA. One of my absolute favorite IPAs!

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2015 Pours a smooth creamy copper with s thick tan head. Aroma is hops and citrus and not overpowered by the alcohol. Very smooth and drinkable. Caramel and citrusy red, and a thick mouthfeel.

I usually assume imperials to be on the bitter side for my taste, but surprisingly not the case with this beer. Dry hops seem to make a big difference. Overall very impressed with oskar blues!

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2015 On tap at Park Tavern. Cooper golden nearly amber color of white head. Nice creamy amber red style mouth-feel with caramel sweetness. Balanced with lots of tropical piney hop flavors and bitterness. Finish is nice and hopy but not ultra bitter like deviant dales.

On tap at Barley and Vine. Pours a rich amber and sports a great hop aroma! Rich maltiness followed by an amazing hop flavor and firm hop bitterness.

This is a big ole heavy DIPA. Looks amazing, great palate for the style, overall very well made. Drinkable, just very filling. More hops than malt, but not overwhelming. Good offering from a brewery that is growing on me.

On tap at Park Tavern, Navy Yard DC. Pours beautiful copper color with about a finger head. Aroma of grains and caramelized sugar. Palate of typical with Oskar Blues beers. Taste of excellent hops flavors with caramelized sweetness. Pretty high ABV but a darn good purchase.
