Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. Can pours a dark amber with a good thick khaki head with nice lacing. Aroma is kinda weak for a dipa, i get hints of resiny piny hops and some grapefruit , but this brew has a lot of caramel toffee sweet malt coming through. Taste is pretty smooth and balanced rhe hops and malts really equal out, ends dry, and the bitterness doesn’t linger any. Good brew but definitely not my favorite DIPA.

Tap at the brewery with ECBT crew. 10 oz pour. Copper/amber color with a pleasant off white head. Nose is more malty than anticipated but with a musty hop pine note. Taste is big and assertive with a malty backbone working well with a hoppy bitterness. Finish has a lingering hop presence with a burnt sugar feel. Full bodied but clean. A few of these without certainly make for a long g’knight.

Appearance: dark ruby, more like a IIPA than an imperial red. Aroma: citrus out the Ying yang with some sweet caramel malt backing it up. Taste: sweet malt and a citrus bang from the hops. Overall: really nice imperial red, although not so much red in appearance and flavour. Otherwise, such an easy drinking IIPA.
