Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. 4 oz chilled pour into a cylindrical tasting glass from tap at the brewery’s taphouse. Fresh as can be! Absolutely beautiful beer. Amber/ruby, clear, with a moderate and attractive head. Very malty and very hoppy. A hop-forward, well-developed, full-bodied, and aggressive beer.

Can. Appearance is dark red with lots of head. Aroma is citrus, pine, and brown sugar. Taste is citrus, pine, mixed in with a sweet malty backbone. Pretty solid, nice balance of citrus, pine, and malty sweetness without being too syrupy or bold, alcohol is very well hidden...dangerous.

On tap at at Fox pub, Peoria. Fresh tangerines in the nose with a little medicine (Pacific gem?) and faint grapefruit and pine accents. Hazy red-brown under an eternal tawny, lacy cover. Flavour is potent orange and strawberry hops, but then ethanol, blending into creamsickle. Hops bitterness is thankfully subdued, but present. Medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth and slightly warming.

Big, thick white head with dark golden colour. Smells of lovely fresh hops - big grassy aroma. Smooth palate with some fruitiness & a bitter but balanced end. A beautiful brew! Rated by BrewTom

Poured from can, copper red hue with thick creamy tan head, decent lacing, smells of caramel malt and leather yeast with some fruit hops, medium body, smooth and silky with light bitter aftertaste, alcohol well hidden, a little too syrupy and brown sugar sweet, some oak, tropical juicy fruit adds adds another dimension

Can - 473ml. Beautiful copper body with a thin, lasting, off-white frothy head. Robust hoppy aroma with malty, citrusy, cinnamon, and caramel hints. Alcohol is not too agressive. Its sharp, strong hoppy taste carries malty, oaky, brown sugar, and fruity notes. Ends with a long, strong, bittersweet finish. Well done.

From 16oz can, NC brewery, poured into 16oz tulip glass

Aroma: Big American "C" hops, citrusy, pines,

Appearance: amber, clear, big frothy tan head, good retention

Taste: Medium bitter, light sweet

Palate: medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, bitter dry finish

Overall: A really, really great Imperial Red IPA. Really enjoy the hop selection on this ale. The medium body highlights some of the Red Ale malts. While it’s big on hops and bitterness, the malty backbone makes it a well balanced beer. Loads of fruity, citrusy, and piney hops.

Canned. Pours clear amber with an average off-white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, caramel, pine and peachy notes. Sweet flavor that end up dry and bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice and hoppy Red.
