Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. Pours mahogany with an off-white head. Getting a hoppy, grassy aroma (slight citrus). Taste is hops upfront with an underlying malt sweetness. Slightly bitter back end. Lively carbonation that you can feel on tip of tongue and back of throat. Alcohol is masked pretty decently, but can feel it in the head pretty quickly. Pretty good beer. Might not be a go to beer, but will probably get again.

Smells of uber sweet malt. Aroma is nice medium brown with lacing and head. Tastes fairly balanced, a little heavy on the malt, but it is not too sweet. Creamy. Good.

pours deep ruby amber with a medium off white head. Aroma is a wonderful sweet floral and orange citrus. The orange citrus comes through in the taste as well. Hoppy, but not all that bitter. Almost a bitter-sweetness that follows all the way through the finish. Very mild bitter linger. The 8.7% alcohol is masked incredibly well. Not boozy at all. This is really good beer. Seems every Oskar Blues I try is another home run! They’re in the IPA zone.

A good easy drinking IPA with a smooth finish no bitter after taste would recommend.

Pours a dark honey red brown with a thick, creamy head. Aroma is caramel and malt. The taste is a huge malty backbone with a bitter finish. Another excellent beer.

Pours a dull Ruby red color. Small head with good carbonation. Looks like a Irish Red Ale but tastes like an I.P.A.

(Can). Pours a beautiful amber complexion with thick head and glass lacing. Alcohol comes through in flavor. Otherwise a decent boozy red ale with hop bite. Not my favorite from this excellent Brewer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2016 On tap at the brewery taproom in Brevard in Dec. 2015.. Red-amber body with high clarity and a good head that leaves excellent lacing. About average hoppiness for style in both the aroma and the flavor, yet the medium malts still manage to show, providing nice caramel notes and with fait bread and some sweetness to counter the bitterness, Mild-moderate bitterness. Notably more hoppy and piney than OB’s Pinner IPA. Medium body with lively, medium+ carbonation. Overall: a very well balanced IPA\Irish Red hybrid. Partially hidden alcohol.
