Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. Poured from can, copper red hue with thick creamy tan head, decent lacing, smells of caramel malt and leather yeast with some fruit hops, medium body, smooth and silky with light bitter aftertaste, alcohol well hidden, a little too syrupy and brown sugar sweet, some oak, tropical juicy fruit adds adds another dimension

Can - 473ml. Beautiful copper body with a thin, lasting, off-white frothy head. Robust hoppy aroma with malty, citrusy, cinnamon, and caramel hints. Alcohol is not too agressive. Its sharp, strong hoppy taste carries malty, oaky, brown sugar, and fruity notes. Ends with a long, strong, bittersweet finish. Well done.

From 16oz can, NC brewery, poured into 16oz tulip glass

Aroma: Big American "C" hops, citrusy, pines,

Appearance: amber, clear, big frothy tan head, good retention

Taste: Medium bitter, light sweet

Palate: medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation, bitter dry finish

Overall: A really, really great Imperial Red IPA. Really enjoy the hop selection on this ale. The medium body highlights some of the Red Ale malts. While it’s big on hops and bitterness, the malty backbone makes it a well balanced beer. Loads of fruity, citrusy, and piney hops.

Canned. Pours clear amber with an average off-white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, caramel, pine and peachy notes. Sweet flavor that end up dry and bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice and hoppy Red.

16oz can pours dark clear amber red with a finger and a half of head. Malt driven but more balance than Deviant Dales with some creamy malt toast caramel mixing with nice fruity citrus, mango, peach notes. Finishes with medium sweetness and bitterness, some lingering citrus and light piney tropical fruit, toast. Good.

pours clear bright medium dark golden orange with a creamy reviving light orange cap, nice lacing. tons of fruity maltiness - wild berries, strawberries, woodsy coconut, citrus and ginger, delicate pine, clean yeast, grapefruit peel and pepper. average to light carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky; almost balanced fruitypiney-citrusy finish. this ale represents the idea of this (sully) style. much enjoyed! big, heady and hefty without being bold and aggressive.
