4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Caramel malt and piney herbal hops aroma. Appearance is copper-amber a little hazy with white head that eventually dissipates. The taste is nicely balanced bitter at the beginning then mellowed and sweet in the finish. Palate is slightly oily and softly carbonated. Finish is smooth. Awesome beer!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can. Pours reddish amber with light tan head. Aroma is earthy hops, pine, sweet roasted malt, caramel, toffee and citrus. Taste is bitter hops, caramel/toffee malt, and sweet citrus and faint spice. Medium to full bodied beer with carbonation that finishes very balanced. This beer has a lot going on and each sip reveals something new. Nice offering by Oskar Blues!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
16 oz. can drunk straight. ’Course, I poured a little into a regular glass to see what’s what.
A: Pours a radiant copper color. The head is a one finger offwhite shade featuring a soft texture and acceptable retention. This one leaves behind a nice streak of lacing as is - I can’t imagine how much it would leave poured into a full pint glass.
S: About what I expected: plenty of caramel malt sweetness, backed by some floral/piny hops. Black pepper and resin also pop up after a few whiffs. Standard, but well done.
T: Again, no real surprises in the flavor profile, except perhaps for the balance achieved. The hop flavors (no citrus/tropical fruit here, it’s all pine/floral/peppery) are strongest right before the finish, yet they never create a harsh spike of bitterness. The opening maltiness is typical: caramel, toffee, marzipan, earth, and maybe a touch of nut. Well balanced, almost to a fault - there’s little here to blow the mind, but the approachability is top-notch.
M: There is a decent dryness on the back end, which (somewhat) quashes the sweeter malts. Personally, it’s a tad undercarbonated for me, helping to create a touch of undesirable syrupiness at times - still, this one is easy drinking.
O: These amber/red ales (barring Nugget Nectar) never really do it for me. Having said that, this is a quality brew with a level of drinkability belying its 8.7% strength. Good one, but it’s a red...meaning this won’t be a regular in my fridge.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lata de 1pt. Copa Globo. Color ámbar intense y tintes cobrizos a contraluz. Sabrosa !!
1pt Can. Snifter glass. Deep amber color, copper tints to the light. Yellowish froth creates a close head. Crown shows fairly good retention so while slowly dissipates leaves a wide lacing ring on sides. Caramel & toasted malt aromas rounded by hints of figs, grapefruit & toffees. Gentle toasted caramel malt & ripe fruit flavors at first followed by increasing & overwhelming resinous bitterness. Full body.Soft carbonation. Oily texture. Mild toasted malts & ripe fruit come back in the middle. Citric astringency mixed them & provides a bitter/sweet sensation that lingers into a long finish. Resins on the aftertaste. ABV is felt just as a sugary note. Flavorful !!!

8.9% 270ml for 850 yen at 23 Craft Beerz, Nagoya. A clear amber with a filmy beige head. Lovely floral/herbal aroma with notes of pine & a bit of mild funk in the background. The piney citrus bitterness perfectly complements the caramel malt body & has some lemon in the finish. Delicious stuff, definitely above average-pretty damn good.

Beauty! Pours light amber with some initial head and lots of clumpy lacing. Nose is pine and light toffee. Notes of toffee, cereal, some fruit and lots of earthy bitterness. Tastes are light sweet and heavy bitter. Medium almost creamy body with lively carbonation and a long lasting big bitter bite.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
this one suprised me. that is why is pays to get the whole flight.....I would never pick an imperial red based on the name alone, but now I know better. pours a deep red with a nice sized head that stays put. good maltiness and hopiness- better balance to me than the deviant. More drinkable. Hops come through but don’t bully the other ingredients out of the way in this one. still really a red ipa to me, but really good.
