Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. I usually assume imperials to be on the bitter side for my taste, but surprisingly not the case with this beer. Dry hops seem to make a big difference. Overall very impressed with oskar blues!

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2015 On tap at Park Tavern. Cooper golden nearly amber color of white head. Nice creamy amber red style mouth-feel with caramel sweetness. Balanced with lots of tropical piney hop flavors and bitterness. Finish is nice and hopy but not ultra bitter like deviant dales.

On tap at Barley and Vine. Pours a rich amber and sports a great hop aroma! Rich maltiness followed by an amazing hop flavor and firm hop bitterness.

This is a big ole heavy DIPA. Looks amazing, great palate for the style, overall very well made. Drinkable, just very filling. More hops than malt, but not overwhelming. Good offering from a brewery that is growing on me.

On tap at Park Tavern, Navy Yard DC. Pours beautiful copper color with about a finger head. Aroma of grains and caramelized sugar. Palate of typical with Oskar Blues beers. Taste of excellent hops flavors with caramelized sweetness. Pretty high ABV but a darn good purchase.

Poured from a can, great aroma. Poured a dark amber. Tastes sweet and malty with a hoppy slightly boozy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can (16oz $3.80): Golden red with one finger head. Great aroma. Description pretty accurate... sticky, and malty. Somewhat sweet. Only a slight bitterness. I think it should have a little more bitterness to balance out the sweetness..

1 pint can poured into pint glass. Great aroma and appearance. Didn’t deliver on any flavor for me, but it was alright.

It poured a hazy light copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of light malts with citrus, pine and a little caramel. The taste was of caramel, herbal spices, mango and some pine/grass bitterness with a little bite. Tasty.

Have had this from a tallboy can and on draft, both at BD Brum, Aug ’13 and May ’14. Pours clear rich deep ruby, cream head which stays reasonably. Nose of rich bready biscuity malt, darkish caramel, some berry fruit and lots of resinous and citrus hops. Tastes sweet burnt sugar and caramel, big bitterness too, perfect balance really. Lots of citrus and piney aromatics. Medium full body, oily. Great beer, really enjoyable. Super-drinkable considering its strength.
