Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. On tap at Park Tavern, Navy Yard DC. Pours beautiful copper color with about a finger head. Aroma of grains and caramelized sugar. Palate of typical with Oskar Blues beers. Taste of excellent hops flavors with caramelized sweetness. Pretty high ABV but a darn good purchase.

Poured from a can, great aroma. Poured a dark amber. Tastes sweet and malty with a hoppy slightly boozy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can (16oz $3.80): Golden red with one finger head. Great aroma. Description pretty accurate... sticky, and malty. Somewhat sweet. Only a slight bitterness. I think it should have a little more bitterness to balance out the sweetness..

1 pint can poured into pint glass. Great aroma and appearance. Didn’t deliver on any flavor for me, but it was alright.

It poured a hazy light copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of light malts with citrus, pine and a little caramel. The taste was of caramel, herbal spices, mango and some pine/grass bitterness with a little bite. Tasty.

Have had this from a tallboy can and on draft, both at BD Brum, Aug ’13 and May ’14. Pours clear rich deep ruby, cream head which stays reasonably. Nose of rich bready biscuity malt, darkish caramel, some berry fruit and lots of resinous and citrus hops. Tastes sweet burnt sugar and caramel, big bitterness too, perfect balance really. Lots of citrus and piney aromatics. Medium full body, oily. Great beer, really enjoyable. Super-drinkable considering its strength.

poured a clear garnet with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, pine, and some earthiness with a hint of citrus. Palate was medium bodied, dry and slightly resiny. Flavors of toffee, mild licorice, pine and some earthiness with a lingering, dry, bitter finish.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2014 Fantastic foamy light tan tall head with dark Amber color poured from 16 oz can. Lots of lacing that last forever. Great mouth feel and tons of flavor with very fine finish. Definitely a beer I will have many times again.

Poured from a coupla two tree tall boy cans into the pint glass, nice foam and good red look. Just enough hops to be smooth, and doesn’t taste as strong as it is, but it is. Glad you named it after a brother.
