COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our “Velvet M-80” is a hefty, dry hopped double-red ale with a nose full of aroma, a sticky mouthfeel, a malty middle and unctuous hop flavors. G’Knight sports a surprisingly sensuous finish for a beer of its size (8.7% ABV, 60 IBUs). It’s brewed in tribute to a fellow Colorado craft beer pioneer and Vietnam vet who died fighting a 2002 wild fire outside of our Lyons hometown. For all the details behind this tribute follow this link to www.N3978Y.com. G’Mornin’. G’Day. G’Knight.

almost clear, reddish copper, nice big off-white head. good head retention, and great lacing rings the glass. wonderful aroma of juicy citrus fruits and light pine. enough malt to give it a biscuity sweetness to balance the great hop dominance. not bitter, just tons of hop flavor. sticky on the tongue. medium body and carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

DATE: June 26, 2016... OCCASION: on the eve of Willow Lake Camp summer six, we begin with Shark Week too!... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter.... pours a dense ruby red body that sports a strong two-finger off-white head that settles to a craggy, chunky half finger of unevenness... lovely floral overtones with the pine that makes an IPA great...thick bread malts form a wall against which a rum-like alcoholic strength is developed... smooth, confident, medium-bodied with a creamy aspect--way too accessible for a beer nearing 9% ABV... mango, grapefruit and sweet pine roil into a strong malt base that strikes caramel and bread... sticky resin enhances the experience--deliciousness! The Oskar Blues folks know how to brew--as well as how to honor the patriarchs of the class beer world... unbelievably agreeable in its palate and rewarding in its flavor profile... another (!) Oskar Blues champion, one I would reach for among others in the genre....

Very nicely done, with a creamy texture full of abundant caramel and brown sugar malt flavors giving way to a refreshing piney hop finish, with the heat covered well. Slight citrus notes add balance and complexity.

Tap at the brewery with ECBT crew. 10 oz pour. Copper/amber color with a pleasant off white head. Nose is more malty than anticipated but with a musty hop pine note. Taste is big and assertive with a malty backbone working well with a hoppy bitterness. Finish has a lingering hop presence with a burnt sugar feel. Full bodied but clean. A few of these without certainly make for a long g’knight.
