altehkiller (71), , California, USA Jun 4, 2009 very hoppy double ipa that is very grassy and piney. there is a slight sweetness to offset the bitterness. more malt than usual. good beer but price holds it back. Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Jun 3, 2009 lets talk gordon for a bit. it’ll be fun. yep, i’ve had quite a bit, hell, i’ve even been given a few 4 packs from people that know their beer. i’m no stranger to this berr. that dark yellow bordering on brown nectar with the white head. that usually smells of a pine forest ansd a grassy field in the rain. damn i’ve had a lot. i’ve enjoyed that sharp hop bite with that great balancing vanilla sweetness that makes me think, "holy shit, i know why the hopheads love those insane IIPA’s" fuck balance give me more of that. so damn good. but i just want to know who was responsible for this crap ass 4 pack i’ve been using as a finisgher tonight. tastes like rotten wood and cardboard with a bad moldy plowed grass taste. would someone tell me who to smack around? this ain’t my gordon. and for fucks sake i live in the area i should get fresh ones. who is the asshole? the distributor? the store? seriously someone needs to fess up. o.k. i like this beer, but i’m going to write in both scores fresh, and however fucking old this whore is. christ.

4 8 7 5 15 plovmand (1588), Helsinge, Denmark May 31, 2009 Can. Bit hazy amber body. Medium creamy white head. Wonderfull grassy aroma with lots of pine and earthy notes backed up by a great malt base. Flavour is very fruity and dry with pine, citrus, peach and caramel notes. Great variation of hops in this brew. I loved it. beerchugger (285), Colorado, USA May 28, 2009 Deep amber color with a thin, yet dense head. Smells of wonderful citrusy hops! Other notes of earth and pine are also noticeable. The flavor has loads of pine and tremendous sweet grapefruit to it. However, the flavor is a little subdued and it doesn’t have that typical DIPA punch. Still, a very delicious beer. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA May 21, 2009 Thanks lb4lb for this. Pours a deep amber orange with thick off-white head. Aroma of is a bit more balanced than most IIPAs, but obvious of citrus and floral hops, strong malt, and grass. Flavor matches, but just doesn’t have that oomph you would be looking for from an IIPA. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA May 17, 2009 Pours dark amber with a modest off white head and a good amount of lacings. Aroma is malty and a good amount of hops. Taste is very bitter leathery fruity hops with a very large amount of sweet candy like malts. I would have pegged this as a big red ale. Not in the same league as many of the super impy / double IPAs. Decent beer but reminds me some of their Old Chub with more hops. The amount of sweet malts hides the 8.7% abv quite well. Worth a taste and I did enjoy it. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA May 16, 2009 Can Deep mahogany with a huge dense light tan head. Big aroma of sweet, carmel malts and thick hoppy goodness. Sweeter and heavy than an IPA, or a double even, but not as bitter either. The hop flavore is woody and heavy, not bright and crisp like a west coast IPA. Lingering thick malty palate as well.
Good stuff. mesperon (133), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA May 15, 2009 Clear copper with thin head, and nice lace. Woodsy hope aroma. Twangy bite to start, bitter orange, and a little, followed by woodsy, grassy bitter finish. Sweetness of the malt lingers a little. A lot going on with this beer, very interesting.
