Commercial Description:
Gordon is a dry-hopped hybrid strong ale somewhere between a Double IPA and and Imperial Amber Ale (IAA). Once a winter seasonal, Gordon is now a year-round, limited-supply offering.

This is a great smelling beer. Flavor is more of a battle of sweet vs. bitter instead of coming together. A good beer but if the taste lived up to the aroma it would be amazing. I didn’t know there was such a thing as a IAA, but that description works.

12oz can. Cloudy orange pour with a medium off-white head. Hoppy aroma with a definite sweet malt presence. Sweet malt flavor up front with a bitter citrus hop finish.

Wow this came out of a can?!?! This brewery rocks and I love what they do with stuff from cans. Anyway it pours a dark amber with a small amount of head that does seem to be sticking around very nicely. On the aroma I get hops, malt and slight citrus. A somewhat subdued subtle aroma though. Medium bodied almost full bodied I guess. On the palate I get hops, slight malt and very subtle citrus. Not very much like the double ipas from this area I am used to but still nice. Definitely recommend this one!!!

On tap at Cogan’s in Norfolk. Pours brownish-orange with a thin white head. Piney hop aroma with not much else detectable. Balanced flavor of grassy hops and malt sweetness. Actually a bit too balanced for my tastes but still an excellent DIPA.

Rather hazy orange-tan, reddish tones and an inch of thick cream-colored head. Aromas of pine and citrus leap out, light toast, apple and hints of maple with a deeper whiff. Thick malts with touches of light caramel and honey easily stand up to the grapefruit and floral hops at first. Finish is coating and more bitter, with the alcohol and pine apparent. If you’re looking for a 8+% session beer, this might be it!

very hoppy double ipa that is very grassy and piney. there is a slight sweetness to offset the bitterness. more malt than usual. good beer but price holds it back.

lets talk gordon for a bit. it’ll be fun. yep, i’ve had quite a bit, hell, i’ve even been given a few 4 packs from people that know their beer. i’m no stranger to this berr. that dark yellow bordering on brown nectar with the white head. that usually smells of a pine forest ansd a grassy field in the rain. damn i’ve had a lot. i’ve enjoyed that sharp hop bite with that great balancing vanilla sweetness that makes me think, "holy shit, i know why the hopheads love those insane IIPA’s" fuck balance give me more of that. so damn good. but i just want to know who was responsible for this crap ass 4 pack i’ve been using as a finisgher tonight. tastes like rotten wood and cardboard with a bad moldy plowed grass taste. would someone tell me who to smack around? this ain’t my gordon. and for fucks sake i live in the area i should get fresh ones. who is the asshole? the distributor? the store? seriously someone needs to fess up. o.k. i like this beer, but i’m going to write in both scores fresh, and however fucking old this whore is. christ. 4 3 3 1 9 4 8 7 5 15
