jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Feb 16, 2009 Dark amber in color with a decent sized off-white head. Aroma is of hops, grass and perfume. Taste is of hops and grapefruit. j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Feb 16, 2009 Can. Pours a deep ruby brandy color with a small white head that falls off almost immediately. Heavy pine and citrus hops, background of sweet malt with a hint of toast. Thick bodied and slowly sweet. Finishes without as much bitter as the hefty hops up front have promised, and a little lighter than I might like. nickd717 (1273), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 14, 2009 Great IIPA. Again the can is a little weird, but what’s inside is solid. Amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt and citrusy/piney hops - lots of them. Flavor is the same, more hops than malt. Hop character is sort of a mix between those typical of SoCal and the Pacific Northwest. Medium-full palate with a nice mouthfeel. probstk (1005), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Feb 11, 2009 Sampled at Flour City Beer Festival (Rochester). AU15/08.
App.: Dirty amber, light tan head.
Aroma: Big sticky sweet malts and lots of C-hops.
Palate: Medium+ body, medium full carbonation.
Flav.: Like the nose...big sweet, sticky malts and strong C-hops; kinda sweet and fairly bitter.
I’m saturated on the style for the moment. fidel (882), Livermore, California, USA Feb 9, 2009 Bistro DIPA Fest. Pours clear golden amber, balanced, roasted malts, nutty, hoppy. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Feb 8, 2009 12 ounce can purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma has plenty of piney, floral, and citrus hop notes. Sweet, husky, and very aromatic and complex. Smells sooo god. Moderately hazy amber body with a frothy, off yellow head, which leaves great lacing. Sweet, malty start with some roastiness as well as some nuttiness. Seems pretty nutty. Some herbal and spicy hop bitterness tis present in the end. Balanced nicely and easy drinking. A dangerously drinkable brew that doesn’t kill the palate with the hops. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Feb 8, 2009 On tap at Bistro DIPA Fest. This amber ale poured with a huge beige head and a mellow roasted malt flavor. The hopping is just bitter enough to round out the palate. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Feb 7, 2009 Can pours clear red amber with a large head and sticky lace. The aroma is citrus and malty. The flavor is quite sweet, citrus, pine, and orange marmalade. The palate is rich, thick, and coating with hop oils. Overall, this is quite nice. I only wish they made pint sized cans.
