jeff789 (357), Pennsylvania, USA Jan 24, 2009 Pours a clear copper/amber with a thin white head and very nice lacing... Aroma of citrus, pine, alcohol, sweet tropical fruits, very aromatic.... Taste of immediate citrus/tropical fruit(mango? papaya?) hops, some sweet malts, but not overwhelming, just enough... This beer defines balanced in the realm of DIPA’s, where the malts cut the hops just enough... The body/finish almost has a refreshing quality, the beer almost asks you to take another sip immediately, AWESOME... This should be ranked higher... crackedmachine (82), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 24, 2009 More refreshing than would be expected from a beer with this much alcohol. Balanced, drinkable...pleasant but not overwhelming hop aroma, medium body, somewhat bitter with a really nice hop flavor. This is delicious, well done, and not at all over the top. (I like over the top, but quaffable is good, too.) HighWine (163), , California, USA Jan 21, 2009 12 oz can. Pours a cloudy nugmeg color with light carbonation and a dark beige head. Good lacing. Sweet, citrus nose. Very drinkable with mild malt and hop flavor. Very smooth on the palate. You would never know this beer is 8.7% ABV. jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Jan 21, 2009 Nice amber color with a beige head. Smells like fresh christmas greens and caramel. I love the hop profile in this, beautifully rich and balanced. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jan 15, 2009 Can split with sixfootsix. Pours a clear burnt orange with fair light tan ring of head. Near perfect nose of sweet pine and citrus hops. Flavor is not quite as nice as the aroma, a little vinous, sticky hops, and a slight metallic twinge, but I can’t tell if that’s just my brain knowing that it is from a can. A little thin on body and semi-cloying on the palate, but an excellent IPA none the less! I love that they can good beers! sixfootsix (13), Franklin, Tennessee, USA Jan 15, 2009 A copper nose with a red pour and lite tan head very sticky hops with a little citrus. a lite ending beer. DarkMagus (433), San Jose, California, USA Jan 12, 2009 A friend left a can of this in my fridge... I can’t say I had very high expectations for it. But it turned out to be a pretty damn good double IPA. It was well-carbonated and produced an initially large head which settled quickly and left behind lots of sticky lacing. Amber-to-brown in color, mostly clear. The aroma was primarily sweet and malty and didn’t give away the hops that were hidden in this beer. I guess there is a slight hint of citrusy sweetness. The flavors, however were a huge blast of earthy, piney hops. There was some grapefruit/citrus character but it was fairly subdued. Pretty damn good stuff though. And it’s great that it comes in a can. scrizzz (1246), kirkland, Washington, USA Jan 11, 2009 Updated: Feb 11, 2009Clear amber, fluffy sticky head. Copious aromatic hops over a little sugary caramel. Clean (not watery though), quenching, mild compared to my expectations. Some juicy hops of pine and citrus in the finish.
