Commercial Description:
Gordon is a dry-hopped hybrid strong ale somewhere between a Double IPA and and Imperial Amber Ale (IAA). Brewed in tribute to the late Gordon Knight, Gordon is brewed with massive amounts of American hops and features about 85 IBUs and 8.7% alcohol by volume. Once a winter seasonal, Gordon is now a year-round, limited-supply offering.

Can pours a dark amber with a white yellow hued head 3 fingers thick. Lots of hop character pine, citrus, and earthy hop notes. A strong malty backbone with a light etoh warming well masked by hops.

Strong hop aroma, very "sticky" smelling as the can indicates. A little watery in the palate, but the falvor is great....the 8.7 ABV is extremely well hidden. Almost no alcohol flavor or nose. Overall, a great beer in this style.

Great beer. I love what Oskar Blues is doing to promote craft beer in a can. Pours a beautiful red amber, with a tan/off-white head. The hops hit you straightaway, but are balanced nicely with some sweeter notes and some really nice spice. I wish I could remember more, but that 8.7% ABV caught up with me.

Perhaps the one I got was old, but this didnt seem as hopped as I expected. Very sweet, and bitter, but didnt have hop flavor. Aroma was nice, but the hop flavor was really lacking. I hope it was old.

draft at barleys in greenville. pours a dark amber color with touches of red when the light hits. topped with a half inch creamy head. aroma is excellent with big sweet hops, rose, cinnamon, orange peel, and pear. flavor is dominated by hops but leads to flavors of orange, rock candy, and hints of kentucky bourbon. palate is very smooth and easy drinking without a hint of the 8.7%. another great beer from the kings of cans.

Hazy dark amber color. Smell is creamy vanilla and pine hops. The smell is amazing. Taste is strong hops, but not overly bitter. There is a little sweetness to it. Excellent beer.

Received via trade with Beerlando. Nice rich hoppy aroma as I poured it into a frosted pint glass, with a quarter inch white frothy head. Initial flavor was of bitter hops and then finished with a creamy citrus aftertaste. Very easy drinker for an DIPA, I hope OB starts distributing to MN soon.

Bottle, from Southington in CT. Pours a beautiful cloudy orange, with a cream-colored head. Really nice lacing on this brew. Aroma dominated by orange, tangerine, nectarine, and a touch of tartness. Flavor is unexpectedly sweet; at first sip I really am not sure what to make of this. Where did all the hops go? Carbonation is under-average, and mid-body emerges surprisingly mild. Finish descends delicately back towards crushed-hop bitterness, but stops short of becoming sharply so. Sweet fruit also lends good balance to the finishing palate. BUT, as a hophead, I say leave the word “balance” at the door.
