dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Nov 28, 2008 That’s one bitter hop aroma. This is a pretty hoppy beer. Flavor is mostly bitter hops as well, but not too heavy in the finish. Doesn’t seem too strong. Certainly tasty. AR (414), Georgia, USA Nov 21, 2008 I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted this beer. I was expecting hops, but was pleased with the balanced malt addition. This was a very drinkable beer for such high IBU. timsilvia32 (445), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Nov 20, 2008 Orange/amber pour, nice off white head arose. Citrus, pine aromas, faint sweet malt. Interesting for a pale, almost creamy mouthfeel. Nice bitter hop up front, but quickly mellows to some sweet malt and light red and citrus fruits. Little biscuity. Very clean, alcohol well hidden. I particularly liked it because it was not just a hop bomb. Pretty excellent version of the style. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Nov 19, 2008 Wow- interesting take on an Imperial IPA. Pours a deep copper with a creamy off-white head. Heavy on the aroma hops- floral with notes of light sugar, lemon, and slight citrus. Flavor is mellow malt with water, sugar, and a lingering floral sweetness in the finish. I really like this Double IPA. beerbill (1917), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 19, 2008 12 oz. can. Pours a clear amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of citrus and pine, with more emphasis on the citrus. The flavor is again citrus and pine with more emphasis on the citrus, along with a bit of caramel. I especially like the hops contribution to the flavor without being prickly on the palate. The mouthfeel is somewhat resinous and fairly smooth. Very nice beer. djd07 (721), Houston, Texas, USA Nov 19, 2008 Can as shown. Pours a hazy copper amber color with a medium frothy off white head. The aroma is a piney hops and citrus. Good sticky lacing on the glass. The taste is light malt with pine hops. Hides the alcohol well, a great Double IPA from Oskar Blues. Collint (450), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Nov 18, 2008 Can from the BP in Sylva. Pours a amber beer with a fluff white head. aroma is piny hops with a resin note. Fruity aroma.
Sweet and spicy. Cinnamon, mint, black cherries. Somehow balanced by bitterness to avoid being cloying. Lovely.
