skortila (2875), Bunnik, Netherlands Oct 4, 2008 Canned. Strong aroma of hops.Orange, pine, caramel. Clear, orange coloured with a thin head. Taste is slightly sweet, wuite bitter. Has caramel, pine, citrus. Bit on the sharp side. Okay though. ketchepillar (475), Viņa del Mar, Chile Oct 1, 2008 Needs re-rate of fresher can. Aroma smells like I just opened a bag of hops w/ a hint of chocolate & caramel and I like it. Some cat pee in the hops though. Flavor feels a bit watery. Between IIPA and Imp Red Ale sounds about right to me. Some chocolate in the finish, surprisingly not that bitter. Low carbonation. Solid, but seems a bit off, which I’m hoping a fresher can will solve. crowderm (275), Recklinghausen, Germany Oct 1, 2008 Very nice reddish amber pour, good head, pretty lacing. Awesome pine, citrus, fresh malt aroma. I believe my can is bit old, but the flavor is still good. Sweet mineral water malt, caramel, pine, orange, some floral notes. Body is thick and smooth, but just light enough to keep this brew refreshing. Good overall, and would almost certainly be better fresh. k4df4l (154), DTown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 30, 2008 Appearance and aroma: Pours a deep amber/red with a nice tan/light brown sugar colored head. The aroma is all hops...resinous pine and big citrus, notably grapefruit and orange zest fill your nose. You can also get a sense of the substantial malt backbone in the aroma but it’s definitely taking a back seat to the hops.
Flavor: Big and bitter up front followed by a substantial sweet clean malty flavor with a touch of caramel and burnt sugar then it’s all about those glorious hops....sticky resinous pine w/ plenty of grapefruit and light floral notes. Alcohol is very faint and complimentary to the overall flavor.
Palate: Substantial body but not too chewy. Finishes fairly clean w/ moderately low carbonation. LilBeerDoctor (1479), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 30, 2008 Can. Pours mahoghany with a small light tan head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel and toasted malt and raisins. Flavor of raisin and grapefruit and bitter citrus hops in the finish. Would have liked some more hops, but maybe I didn’t get a super fresh can. Tasty beer nonetheless. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA Sep 29, 2008 Thick frothy head which disapates quickly. Dark amber in color. Aroma of rich pine forest and grapefruit - smells sweet and woody. Flavor is sweet and bitter grapefruit. Oily yet somewhat thin mouthfeel. This wasn’t as overpowering as I expected, but a delicious beer - especially for one poured from a can! Prometheus (97), Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA Sep 29, 2008 Although heavily hopped beers aren’t my favorite, I really enjoyed this one!
Amber with a substantial head.
Nice hop aroma and hop taste as well, with a not unpleasant bitter aftertaste.
Overall, a very nice brew. luv2brew (177), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2008 Unbelievable, this was an amazing brew that is massively hopped from the get go. I had put off trying this one for years because of the can, what an idiot. this pours a dark yellow, and it is one of the most well balanced beer i have ever had with a great bouquet of hops on the front while it finishes with a strong bitterness at the end and best of all no residual aluminum anywhere in there
