Commercial Description:
Gordon is a dry-hopped hybrid strong ale somewhere between a Double IPA and and Imperial Amber Ale (IAA). Brewed in tribute to the late Gordon Knight, Gordon is brewed with massive amounts of American hops and features about 85 IBUs and 8.7% alcohol by volume. Once a winter seasonal, Gordon is now a year-round, limited-supply offering.

Can. Pours a deep amber with a moderate head. Aroma of Cascade hops. The flavor is dominated by a bitter hoppiness, balanced only somewhat with sweet toffee malts. Much closer to a Double IPA than an Imperial Amber. A bit too astringently bitter on the palate for my liking. A good beer nevertheless, but somewhat underwhelming.

Pours red/copper into the glass with an off white head. Aroma is sweet caramel and resinous. Flavor is very rich and has a caramel and toffee like quality to it with a nice amount of hop bitterness to counter. Very easy drinking for a bigger beer. really nicely done.

Can from Total Wine. So I figured someting that costs almost $5 per can better be damned good...well it is and more. Nice orange pour wtih a fair head...leads way to some great fruity hop and malt aromas. The flavor is rich and fruity wtih a juicy malt flavor. Damn am I glad that I can get this whenever I want. Very well done.

Bottled: great beer! Pours a dark red with an orange tint and a beige creamy head. Smells sweet with hops and tastes hoppy with caramel and the alcohol is hidden well!

Canned sample via oakbluff. Amber in colour with medium carbonation. Nice floral hop aroma, which is balanced by some lightly toasted malt notes. Quite well balanced in the mouth... even though it’s malt dominant, the malts are very focused. Some minor caramle notes are present too, but the citric hops balance the brew quite nicely. Sort of like a baby IIPA... good stuff!

From bottle : Clear copper color, with a small sticky white head with decent lacing. Very strong nose of piney hops, pepper and some alcohol. Taste is much the same, has a big hop taste, but not the bitter bite. Body is medium, palate is pretty nice and smooth, not to sticky. Aftertaste has the hops and som caramel, but not much, and it doesnt linger very long at all. Alcohol is hidden pretty well. Good brew.

Can at the twickenham tasting. Aroma is unmistakenly american caramaly and citrusy hop, lychee, toffee, peppery. Taste is similar, alc very well hidden, great beer, however perhaps getting too much of that caramalt cloyingness. Still an excellent drink.
