Flavors unfamiliar, had hop IPAness with sweet malts. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2008 12oz in bordeaux glass. Deep amber, low off white head. Huge resiny, floral aroma. Thick with lupulin. Says 8.7%, but it’s barely there. Color is just about the only indication there’s malt in here. An orgy of late-hopping in a can. lebshiff21 (85), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Scarily drinkable is the first thing I wrote down, haha. Poured a deep reddish brown with a thick head. I like the way this one is sort of like an IPA, but not quite. Lots of IPA in the nose; but, lots of malt/caramel on the palate. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Dark amber body with a nice bubbly head. Plenty of pine and citrus hops going in the aroma with a kick of crystal malts backing it up. There is a remarkable balance going on in the flavor making this by no means a hop bomb, which I love here. Citrus hops and caramel and crystal malts with some oranges going on in the flavor. Finishes smooth and somewhat dry. This is a fantastic beer. Jblauvs (542), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 15, 2008 Can. Pours a deep amber with a moderate head. Aroma of Cascade hops. The flavor is dominated by a bitter hoppiness, balanced only somewhat with sweet toffee malts. Much closer to a Double IPA than an Imperial Amber. A bit too astringently bitter on the palate for my liking. A good beer nevertheless, but somewhat underwhelming.
