DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Jul 14, 2008 Deep red-orange amber. Huge aromas of fudgey caramel and tropical fruit. Chewy malty palate with an equally generous fruity hop load (citrus, guava), big bitter finish. Absolutely delicious. MaltDawg (778), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 13, 2008 12 oz can from Total Wine. Nose of grassy and floral hops with nice sweet malty background. Amber orange mostly clear with fluffy white head and a bit of lacing on the glass. Grainy cherrios and carmel malts with grassy floral hops. I got a big sweet tea flavor. Medium body with a fairly dry finish with a touch of bitterness. Nice, different, very tasty beer. brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 10, 2008 This is a tremendous beer, I still can’t believe I drank this out of a can!
From can, Brick Store Pub - Decatur, GA mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Jul 9, 2008 Canned from Bev4Less. Deep amber in color. Big thick hopped up aroma with a good amount of maltiness and candy sugar. Big hop flavors with big malt profile. Very rich, potent beer. Alcohol is well hidden. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jul 8, 2008 From mcbackus via trade. The pour is a nice swirl of ruby, copper and brown with a strong off-white head that produced above average lacing. The initial aroma was pine (almost pine-sol) with plenty of earthy hops as well as citrus. Tea leaves and malt came forth as it opened up. The flavor was milder than I expected. More floral and tea leaves with only hints of citrus, pine and caramel malt. The body was on the thin side and the finish was clean. Call it Arrogant Bastard Light. BigBeer45 (675), Troy, Michigan, USA Jul 5, 2008 Updated: Dec 25, 2008Can, pours a burnt red and ruby with off-white and darker bubbled head that thins to a cover and ring, left some nice lacing on the glass, lots of piney, citrus and grassy hops on the nose, aroma of caramel and toasted malt with some sweet candy fragrances, I did not pick-up any alcohol in my whiffs, the hops are plentiful until the ale reaches room temperature then the malt reigns in, I was expecting a big hop bite from the nose on this ale but the bite is softer then its bark, flavor of toasted malt and caramel with a soft but evident hop bitterness, no alcohol taste at first, a little alcohol shows on the palate at room temperature, mouth feel is thinner then I expected for a American Strong and the carbonation is about medium, hops on the nose are bigger then the hops on the palate, very easy to drink quickly, I found this ale easy to gulp!
I have to say, this is easy to drink quickly without realizing that this stuff is 8.7% alc., I love this stuff because I can chug it and get lost in it, very nice. drjay44 (757), Salida, Colorado, USA Jul 5, 2008 Interestingly, not as large as I would have anticipated from the commercial discription. Nice balance overall and the alcohol is pretty hidden. DaSilky1 (1932), San Diego, California, USA Jul 4, 2008 Can. I am absolutely ecstatic that Oskar Blues cans are being distributed in Socal these days. This one was Big, Red & sticky indeed. Barleywine-like but maybe not as thick. Definitely Hot, Definitely Hoppy, some licorice notes as well...and all this out of a can. Fuckin’ sweet!
