Pours a slightly hazy dark orange body with a small one finger fizzy off-white head that retained as a thin film. Big crystal malt and caramel aromas surround a heavy handed, slightly piney, hoppiness. Smells very candy like. The hops and malt are actually really well balanced, they’re both huge. Lots of caramel sweetness, though there is a little too much stale iced tea crystal malt showing thru, especially towards the finish. Fairly heavy bitterness up front, but it doesn’t linger very long. Mouthfeel is full and thick with a little stickiness and nice soft fizzy carbonation. Overall, a pretty nice beer, but the more I drank of it, especially the second half of the glass, the crystal malt got on my nerves quite a bit. robbmotiwalla (50), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA

It pours a cloudy dark amber with marked hop lace and fine, light carbonation. Sweet caramel malt and plenty of high-alpha hops dominate the flavor, with some crystal malt in the mix. Alcohol and dry hops in the throat provide an astringent finish. Stone Double Bastard remains my favorite example, followed by Dogfish 90 Minute, but Oskar Blues Gordon is quite respectable. jcweaver (65), VA Beach, Virginia, USA

It pours a frothy average head that is off-white in color and mostly lasting. The beer is murky amber in color and moderatly dense. The initial flavor is moderately sweet and lightly acidic. The finish is slightly bitter and moderately alcoholic. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 18, 2008 (Canned) Hazy dark amber with a smallish, tight head. Aromatic-hoppy, fruity nose with a clear alcohol presence. Toffee-booze-malty flavor with dried fruit, pine-resiny hops, and a bitter, dry finish. Medium-bodied, dryish palate with soft carbonation. Alcohol is too evident when cool, but becomes smoother with warming up. Still a bit thin and rough for the style, and no match for Nogne #100 and the like. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA

Clean hoppy flavor supported by juicy malt with a toasted note. Has a lingering pine flavor. Low carbonation. Relatively low bitterness. Doesn’t come together for me somehow. blutt59 (2091), Dallas, Texas, USA

Poured a deep clear amber with biege head, decient retention, laced the glass. Aroma of fresh hops, as if the hops are right under your nose, very nice....Flavor is sweet malt, very hoppy flavor, and a medium bitter at the end to compliment. Medium-full body, medium carb.....Very tasty!
