rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jan 23, 2008 Pours with a great big thick sticky head that loves to linger. Smells of hops and citrus. Big hop and citrus taste with a oily texture. Best canned beer i’ve ever had. 45thstbrewer (94), Conowingo, Maryland, USA Jan 22, 2008 Oskar Blues Gordon is a great hoppy American beer. I can’t believe that this beer came from a can BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Jan 18, 2008 yes indeed a hybrid and grapefruit hop brew that is aggressive a bit harsh and befitting of an american strong ale. the beer settles somewhat and a malty and expected broomstraw dimension arrives with a smoothing and settling carbonation. a ballsey brew that has it’s place in the bitter hearts of us all! georgehog (18), Delaware, USA Jan 16, 2008 On draft at OB brewpub. Dark, amber orange hue with slightly off white head. Huge piney, hop aroma with an alcoholic tint to it. Not as smooth as Dales for me. Piney hops, a little on the thin side with an alcoholic pang to it. Finish is a little astringent, but this is defintely worth trying. Could be more balanced. valpoaj (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA Jan 14, 2008 From can...pours murky mahogany color with little off-white head. Aroma is primarily piney hops with some hints of citrus fruit in there as well. Flavor is dominated by the piney hops...there’s some malt, but the hops dominate this one. Bitter aftertaste with some citrus notes. Highly carbonated and somewhat rough on the palate, but nothing too offensive. Full-bodied and oily on the palate. Good offering, but wow was the price high on this puppy...can’t see myself drinking this too much when you equivocate this to a $24 sixer! However, cheers to one! mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 13, 2008 [996-20071223] 355mL (w/ GregClow, jerc). Aroma has a big kick of citrus hops and continues with malt and pine resin notes. Clear, amber orange body with quick foamy off-white bubbles. Hoppy and malty flavour has a bit of old pine resin and a nice citrus background. Rough medium body. Big, red and sticky. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Jan 10, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Pours a deep amber orange with small carbonation and a large frothy tan head. Aroma is initially grapefruit and then some caramel and spice. Biting grapefruit flavor that somewhat overpowers the caramel malt underneath. Oily texture, long bitter finish. Great beer for a hop head like myself. sinkr (212), Lusby, Maryland, USA Jan 9, 2008 Can(?!)->trappist glass: pours an offwhite head on a dark amber or perhaps a dark red & cloudy body; exhibits some lacing, but minimal. The head is slightly persistent, but your first sip makes it dwindle rapidly. The aroma does what any good IPA does IMO: provides a hoppy, floral, spicy aura pre-sip. There is a short burst of flavor (not as long as I’d like), it provides a light sweetness, but also is acidic and moderately bitter. I’d say the body is light because the mouthfeel isn’t that thick, nor does the taste hang around too long, though there is a hoppy aftertaste that persists on the back of my tongue for quite a bit after each sip. The texture is oily and smooth and just coats the palate on its way down with, of course, a bitter finish. A good beer and I have no complaints except the price.
