sinkr (212), Lusby, Maryland, USA Jan 9, 2008 Can(?!)->trappist glass: pours an offwhite head on a dark amber or perhaps a dark red & cloudy body; exhibits some lacing, but minimal. The head is slightly persistent, but your first sip makes it dwindle rapidly. The aroma does what any good IPA does IMO: provides a hoppy, floral, spicy aura pre-sip. There is a short burst of flavor (not as long as I’d like), it provides a light sweetness, but also is acidic and moderately bitter. I’d say the body is light because the mouthfeel isn’t that thick, nor does the taste hang around too long, though there is a hoppy aftertaste that persists on the back of my tongue for quite a bit after each sip. The texture is oily and smooth and just coats the palate on its way down with, of course, a bitter finish. A good beer and I have no complaints except the price. Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Jan 6, 2008 Updated: Oct 4, 2008Can. At The Rover, Gothenburg. Orange/copper color with an off-white head. Is really hoppy and bitterness bits the back of the mouth. Thanks John for this experenice, i want more. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Jan 3, 2008 Can. It presents itselves with a slightly hazy amber body and a minimal, beige head. When poured, it immediately releases lots of resiny and piney aromas, and a deeper investigation reveals a heavy maltyness, quite sweetish, and some citrus. It took me some time to let the aromas have a break and let the beer slip between my lips and teeth. Well, it sort of cleaned the teeth when passing, and without being all bitter, it soaked my tongue with sweetness for a starter, a wonderful balanced main course and a bitter dessert. And to top it, there was a little sweet to finish it. There were pine, citrus, resin, sugar and maltyness, but when swallowing, the hops givinig it its 85 IBUs claimed it’s rights to dominate. The amount of malt sure did its thing too, giving it a full body and a little stickyness in the mouth. It was a quite balanced beer, but sure on the hoppy side, and sure a treat. Sure the best canned beer I’ve had, an evidence that canned beer don’t have to be crap or mediocre. (080103) Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jan 2, 2008 Updated: Jan 4, 200912oz. can. Piney, herbal, lightly spicy aroma, with hints of tea leaves, orange citrus and gently husky, toasty malts. Light-medium amber color with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Flavor is a melange of faintly sweet, honeyish, grainy malts and generously piney, spicy, fresh, green and citric hops, these contributing a good deal of bitterness and flavor but well-balanced, kept in check to a surprising degree, highly complimentary rather than overbearing. Some cedar, pepper, powdered sugar and grapefruit in the finish. Body is medium-full, palate is resinous and smooth. Gains a truly dangerous degree of drinkability as it warms (~58 F). Well-built and flavorful, and with an artful degree of restraint seldom seen in the style. MxPx1484 (13), USA Dec 30, 2007 Wasn’t too thrilled about paying 15 bucks for a 4 pack of cans, but I have to say it was really worth it. Very high hop profile that is really nicely balanced. Surprisingly a very easy drinking beer, which may cause me to start taking off my clothes. fredjaz (108), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Dec 26, 2007 a good whatever it is, nice amounts of hops and malt, still like the Dale’s pale better yjb (110), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Dec 25, 2007 On the second can of christmas odkar blues sent to me: a dark ruby red pour, lingering head, sweet dates and honey, some sweet malt. {something like lagunitas imperial red?}
