Oskar Blues Gordon

12 oz. can. Pours a clear amber. Small white head with a good bit of lacing. Aroma Nice pleasant aroma of citrus hops. Sweet malt backbone dominates the mouthfeel. Some piney hops show up at the end and the beer finishes slightly bitter.

12 oz. Clear dark amber with a medium-sized, lasting head. Big sweet citrus and evergreen resin aroma. Flavor is a blast of sweet toasted nut and citrus honey, then a big bittering slide towards the earthy resin and citrus hop finish. Subtle alcohol presence adds a nice flavor. Body is medium and smooth with some tingle. Another excellent taste adventure in a can.

very nice pour, mine poured very clear with red tint. didn’t know what to expect from the very hoppy, but a little sweet aroma. sweet malty flavor, lots of hops. excellent stuff.

From the can, an so far the best beer from a can i’ve had. Pours cloudy mahogany, lots of floaties (age a can?), soft khaki head with lots of lacing. Very rich hop aroma, still sweet tough. Good malty IIPA or strong ale or whateva, with enough sweetness to not make it a palate scraper. Rich caramel malt flavor, depth that gives a milk chocolate flavor to it. Citrusy hops, very floral.

can poured into a snifter. my first craft beer from a can... it was quite enjoyable. Oskar Blues makes some damn good beer. I would classify this more like a Barley Wine than an American Strong Ale... it had the aromas and palate of an american barley wine. pours a deep red with a solid white head. hoppy aroma and thick and chewy on the palate. average carbonation and a nice strong hoppy finish. quite excellent beer... glad I have 3 more in the cellar.

Pours a dark, Dark, DARK red (yes, it’s a red hue) with a creamy beige head. Smells like fresh churned butter. Not as bitter as I expected. Flowery hops and malty fluff. Expensive as all hell: $12-15 for a 4 pack! Jebus Khrist! Luckily the Three Cellars store on 27th street in Franklin, WI. sells single cans of this for $4 each. That’s fair enough for a taste of this.

Can into St. Bernardus glass; purchased at Greens on Ponce, Atlanta. Pours dark and without much carbonation (have to slosh it a little to get a creamy ecru head, which subsides to leave a ring of nice tight lacing). Smells of cracker and buttery hops all over the place. Feels and tastes kind of like Double Bastard with a hard clean line and aggressive bittering hops, but the hops are more flowery in the finish here. Still, same with the Bastard beers, I feel that this is unintegrated and brash overall. The sudsy, cracker malts just kind of sit there, and the hops are bitterness and a little metal over the top of it. Alcohol is well integrated though, and it tastes good. Solid, not fantastic.

Aroma is of high-alpha hops, resiny with some citrus, and earth. pours dark amber with good head and is transparent. flavor is full or rustic earthy hops, with some grapefruit cutting in there. Not a lot of malt flavor, definitely just for balancing the bitterness. medium palate. good.
