punkeedo (465), San Antonio, Texas, USA Jul 11, 2009 2009 Tap. Get ready to be punched in the throat! The hops in this IPA easily do the job of "shock and awe" with your tastebuds. Similarly to Stone Ruinator IPA, as the palate adjusts to the hops, other flavors begin to pop. Particularly, a very floral, soapy flavor (not naggingly soapy) comes through. Overall this is a good brew, but I found it to be a little lacking just before swallowing. As it settles in the mouth, it seems to get a little watery. Overall a wonderful beer. mrhoppy (208), Santa Clara, California, USA Jul 11, 2009 Had at the GABF. I don’t know. There was a lot of buzz around this. I didn’t see why. pinkzambia (986), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 10, 2009 Can: Dark copper, amber color with a nice light brown head. Super hoppy nose full of fresh hops, grapefruit and hot leather. It has a pleasant taste which starts out smoth and sweet but finishes off with robust hop bitterness. The body is thick and smooth and sticks around for a bit. Delightful. Thanks Indiana Red for hooking me up with a can. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Jul 10, 2009 Enjoyed this brew at the Publick House Boston. Weird dipa. It grows on you. I’ve not had such a balanced dipa. The hops are present bit don’t overpower the malt. Very heavy on the tounge. Would not drink too many of these. TeamTrappist (362), jericho, New York, USA Jul 8, 2009 Tap at Rattle and Hum. Nice firm hop nose. Very well balanced, with not overly floral hops, and strong bitter finish. biznizness (930), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA Jul 7, 2009 Fantastic. I love a DIPA with a malt spine, instead of those over-the-top, burn-your-tongue CA DIPA’s. Tremendous brew. Elwood (647), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Jul 7, 2009 12 oz. can. Pours a hazy brownish-orange with a thin, off-white head. The head is very quick to fade. Big hop nose with notes of pine, citrus (particularly orange), and sweet malt. Medium carbonation with a medium, yet dry mouthfeel. Orange, pine, grass, alcohol, malt sweetness, and a bit of wood on the palate. The orange sweetness comes through first, then a bracing bitterness, followed by a dry finish. Medium finish with some lingering bitterness and a touch of orange. Overall I found it a wee bit understated for an DIPA, but that really made it all the more enjoyable.
