Pours a clear amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of citrus and pine, with more emphasis on the citrus. The flavor is again citrus and pine with more emphasis on the citrus, along with a bit of caramel. I especially like the hops contribution to the flavor without being prickly on the palate. The mouthfeel is somewhat resinous and fairly smooth. Very nice beer. mar (1981), Dallas, Texas, USA

The smell is hoppy, caramel, grainy, malty, and bready. The taste is just about the same as the smell. Good beer. MIBRomeo (1966), Wisconsin, USA

Nice grass & grapefruit dominated by sweet carmels yet finishes dry. Very good. altonbrownd (1966), Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amber in color, slightly hazy with a small off white head and sticky lacing. sweet citrus/malt in the aroma, as well as the beginning of the taste. Lightly bitter in the finish with lingering citrus notes. Soft to medium carbonation. Really good for a IIPA with malts actually in the fore front. Although at 17 bucks for a four pack of cans, I probably won’t experience this beer again. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

Its a very limited bottling here and there they said. Pours a deep crimson amber hue with minimal tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, hops, sugar and alcohol. Lots of caramely malts with a nice piney finish. Alcohol was a little hot for a IIPA. This is almost a barleywine. One year of aging would do this one wonders. Long, piney finish. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 3, 2005 Bottle - Deep dark hazed ruby, thick creamy off white head. Aroma was bursting with loads of evergreen, lemon rind, grapefruit, some tangerine, with slight hints of caramel and touches of chocolate and smoke. Was very well balanced with the sweet malt integrating nicely into the hop world we now live in. Full bodied, prickly carbonation, drying bitter hop finish. Good stuff....
