The color si a dark brown with red ruby highlights. The aroma is an intense malt with anise, molasses and oak. The taste is lightly toasted. It also had panckes, vanilla and tobacco. Finishes with coffee and caramel. A surprsignly thin mouthfeel. Thanks for this beer that I hadn’t heard of, DavidP! BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 18, 2006 Can: Pours a lightly hazy shimmering ruby and golden mahogany color with a small retentive head and excellent lacing. The nose is very nice with toasty biscuit malt and a great harmony of malt flavors gracefully balanced with the intense citrusy hops of amarillo or simcoe origin. For me, this smell conjurs up memories of brewpub travelling. That occasional beer that’s so fresh and intense on tap, that it just flows into your veins faster than it does your stomach. Nastalgia! The flavor is VERY balanced with a lightly dry complex malt body followed by a non-bitter but intense dry-hopping flavor that blends perfectly. Nice pine dances with the caramel malts and the grassy hop notes blend with the toasty, creamy malt aspects. The finish is a bit dry, but the sweetness is there in just the right level anyways. Low carbonation so the flavors are fresh and clean, not too acidic feeling on the palate. This is such a surprise from a can beer. I’ve bee blown away by Oskar Blues’ can beers before, but this takes it up to the next level. Thanks to aracauna for the beer. Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA

Very nice floral aroma, characteristic of a highly dry hopped IPA. Great flavor, a nice balance between sweet malt and dry hops... citrusy and spicy. A very well put together beer. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 17, 2007 Poured a dark amber color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, floral hops, citrus fruits, with some sweet caramel malts balancing that out. Taste of citrus fruits, pine, caramel malts, tobacco, and a bitter grapefruit finish, with some alcohol backing up the bitter hops. As with all IIPAs, this one is better fresh! hopdevl (1), Far West End, Richmond, Virginia, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 10, 2004 750 ml Corked Bottle. Flared Tulip. Tasted at 55°. Nearly opaque reddish brown appearance. Tall frothy tan head. Bubbles of carbonation are extremely small and lacing coats the glass. Strong aroma of pine and grapefruit. Hops dominates throughout with a nice malt balance. The hoppy bitterness remains long after tasting. At 9.2%, the alcohol is well hidden. Purchased at Carytown Wine & Beer. A bit pricey at $13.49 per bottle; but, I would do it again. The bottle says "If you knew Gordon Knight, this beer needs no explanation. If you didn't we're sorry." I didn't know him; but, based on what I've read, I think this beer honors him well. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA

Dark brown beer that pours with a big tan head, leaving great lacing behind. Evergreen and pine hop aroma, along with some orange and tangerine. What really strikes me is the malt. This is hoppy, but not in the massively huge resin hoppiness of some other DIPAs...the malt is much more substantial and strikes me as being more like a barley wine or strong scotch ale...this beer gains a lot of complexity from its malt, and that makes it stand out. I’m not sure I’d really classify this as a DIPA, but whatever it is, its really yummy. jeffc666 (1899), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

The aroma is pine and citrus with a good dose of malt. The flavor is quite hoppy, but is nicely balanced with a good amount of sweetr malts. The finish is a bit rough. Medium-full body. A nice beer, though to me no really an IIPA, more of an American Barley Wine, but a nice ebeer nonetheless.
6/13/2004 8/4/4/16 - 4.0 Huge tan head sits atop a rather dark ruby almost mahogany. The aroma is sweet with lots of citurs and a small amount of pine. The flavor is quite sweet and caramely along with the expected hop wallop. The bitterness is not overwhelming but is still pronounced. Rather full bodied. Overall much more like an American barley wine than an IIPA. Thanks a bunch to argo0 for sharing this. jzzbassman (857), New Albany, Mississippi, USA
