Commercial Description:
Gordon is a dry-hopped hybrid strong ale somewhere between a Double IPA and and Imperial Amber Ale (IAA). Brewed in tribute to the late Gordon Knight, Gordon is brewed with massive amounts of American hops and features about 85 IBUs and 8.7% alcohol by volume. Once a winter seasonal, Gordon is now a year-round, limited-supply offering.

This is one of the most balanced DIPA’s I have had. It has the kick in the ass hops, but is balanced with a with a thick palate and a malty backbone. Sexy dark mohogany body too. Yummy! Where CAN I find more - pun intended..

Hail Oskar Blues. Old Chub is damn good, Dale’s Pale Ale is outstanding, and Gordon is equally as impressive. Why don’t all American microbreweries remember the golden rule followed by Oskar Blues, Stoudts, and Bells? (Allright , Anchor and Sierra Nevada too....) BALANCE HEAVY HOPS WITH A MALTY BACKBONE!!!!!!! Is it that hard to remember or are most american "hopheads" simply tasteless little twits? Brew more beers like this, American brewers, and we will get worldwide recognition....something we do not, as of yet, deserve.

Canned. Just maybe the best drinking beer ever! It has a beautiful amber color. Make sure you drink it a little warmer. If it is too cold the aroma seems mild but when left at an appropriate IPA or PA temperature this IIPA/IAA explodes with scent. The beers palate is oily...maybe a little too oily (my only complaint) but combined with the sweeter caramel malt palate creates an incredibly sticky beer! The taste is bold ver BOLD with sweet malts of caramel and lots of hops on the back end that makes the finish linger bitter for a while. A little fruit on top. Alcohol is high but well hidden. Great Day Beer!

12 ounce can purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma has plenty of piney, floral, and citrus hop notes. Sweet, husky, and very aromatic and complex. Smells sooo god. Moderately hazy amber body with a frothy, off yellow head, which leaves great lacing. Sweet, malty start with some roastiness as well as some nuttiness. Seems pretty nutty. Some herbal and spicy hop bitterness tis present in the end. Balanced nicely and easy drinking. A dangerously drinkable brew that doesn’t kill the palate with the hops.

On tap. Reddish brown body, off-white head, sweet nose with significant hop presence. Creamy mouthfeel, sticky, nice blend of hop flavors, good sweet malt backbone. A winner.

Pours a copper-orange. The glass is a cloudy hop-haze. Full powered hops on the first sip followed by a warming alcohol coating. What a brilliant colored beer and complex balance. Definitely worth the $. Cheers Gordo!

When the local beer store told me I should try this ’interesting’ beer in a can I didn’t think it was going to be a good idea. Wow was I wrong. Thick and sweet with a huge hop aroma and flavor. Floral hop taste is very powerful. Very similar to my favorite homebrew ever which was a Double IPA that haunts my dreams still. Wonderful surprise!
