Wow what full balanced richness from this luscious can! Smell of lactose pineyness, like a creamy hopsicle. Awesome look of hazy deep orange and a rich really flavorful light tan head. Flavor and mouthfeel is what all DIPA should aim to be. Beautifully balanced with both extremes well represented and a full saturated sticky chewiness to the mouthfeel. This is what sierra nevada fans think bigfoot is. Congrats Oskar Blues. DeadGirl (243), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Pours rich amber/golden with a thick, creamy head into my friend’s plastic cup, but I’m drinking this one straight from the can on Miami’s South Beach: Nose of sugar coated pine dipped into a batch of high octane, liquified hops. Creamy smooth mouthfeel, with a crisp bite of that American Cascade. Drinkability: Earthy flavors really deliver (yet aren’t overstated) in what could be one of the strongest DIPAs I’ve had to date. Rebuy: Yes. #221 on 28112009, DG.

I would bathe in this beer, and drink it afterwards...though, I would have to admit, that pre-bath would be the best way to enjoy this masterpiece. Citris, pine, malt, hops. This beer has everything I want in a beer...Except maybe for the fact that it costs at about 10 bucks a 4 pack... it’s still a must buy. I love this beer so much, that the next time I buy a 4 pk, I’m going to drink three of them, and take the 4th to the back seat of my jeep and get it pregnant. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA

WOW! This is the darkest, thickest, richest IPA, I’ve ever consumed! The beer pours a porter brown to almost black with some ruby high lights, the head mountainous, the texture creamy, and the color a toothsome light brow, the lace is thick and glutinous. Nose is dominated by the hop floral aroma, with an almost cotton candy sweetness, start is ambrosial, rich in malt with the top thick and pleasant to the palate. Finish has a modest acidity, the hops enduring in their spiciness, and with a 9.2 ABV, quite a nice belly warmer, a magnificent beer.

Not a huge head, but nice, lasting lace patterns. Very smooth with a rabbit-fur softness on the tongue. Malts are very yeasty and very dough-like. Has a very earthy, maybe even barnyard quality to it. Very hoppy, but not too bitter. Alcohol is hidden unbelievably well. While buying this beer, I had a conversation with someone in line. He said he knew Gordon, and only had good things to say about him... and the beer. It's amazing how much influence Gordon had in this area, and how highly respected he was. Truly tragic story. And I think this beer is a real tribute to him, brewed by a brewery in Lyons, close to where his helicopter crashed while fighting a forest fire. Cheers to Mr. Knight. obxdude10 (1566), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA

Original (and evidentially wrong) rating: Not really all that impressive of an IIPA, color wasn’t really consistent with the style, hoppiness wasn’t consistent, it was mostly brown with a slight ruby red hue, had an over-huge tan head that left big chunks of lace around the glass, malty nose with only a small hint of hops & citrus, generous amout of hop flavor but not enough, malt profile was too over-powering, just not enough hops used, this beer just wasn’t brewed correctly, they missed the boat on the style

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Pours a dark, Dark, DARK red (yes, it’s a red hue) with a creamy beige head. Smells like fresh churned butter. Not as bitter as I expected. Flowery hops and malty fluff. Expensive as all hell: $12-15 for a 4 pack! Jebus Khrist! Luckily the Three Cellars store on 27th street in Franklin, WI. sells single cans of this for $4 each. That’s fair enough for a taste of this. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
