sinkr (135), Lusby, Maryland, USA Jan 9, 2008 Can(?!)->trappist glass: pours an offwhite head on a dark amber or perhaps a dark red & cloudy body; exhibits some lacing, but minimal. The head is slightly persistent, but your first sip makes it dwindle rapidly. The aroma does what any good IPA does IMO: provides a hoppy, floral, spicy aura pre-sip. There is a short burst of flavor (not as long as I’d like), it provides a light sweetness, but also is acidic and moderately bitter. I’d say the body is light because the mouthfeel isn’t that thick, nor does the taste hang around too long, though there is a hoppy aftertaste that persists on the back of my tongue for quite a bit after each sip. The texture is oily and smooth and just coats the palate on its way down with, of course, a bitter finish. A good beer and I have no complaints except the price.
piscator34 (908), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Sep 6, 2008 Canned sample via oakbluff. Amber in colour with medium carbonation. Nice floral hop aroma, which is balanced by some lightly toasted malt notes. Quite well balanced in the mouth... even though it’s malt dominant, the malts are very focused. Some minor caramle notes are present too, but the citric hops balance the brew quite nicely. Sort of like a baby IIPA... good stuff! BigMilly8 (362), Holiday, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2008 From bottle : Clear copper color, with a small sticky white head with decent lacing. Very strong nose of piney hops, pepper and some alcohol. Taste is much the same, has a big hop taste, but not the bitter bite. Body is medium, palate is pretty nice and smooth, not to sticky. Aftertaste has the hops and som caramel, but not much, and it doesnt linger very long at all. Alcohol is hidden pretty well. Good brew. Magic_dave6 (3751), London, Greater London, England Sep 1, 2008 Can at the twickenham tasting. Aroma is unmistakenly american caramaly and citrusy hop, lychee, toffee, peppery. Taste is similar, alc very well hidden, great beer, however perhaps getting too much of that caramalt cloyingness. Still an excellent drink. SuperDave70 (766), Arizona, USA Aug 30, 2008 On tap at Papago. Pours a deep amber-orange color with a big creamy tan head that sticks around throughout. Lots of aromas happening. Roasty caramel malt, pine hops, grapefruit, and earth. Flavor is mostly the sweet caramel pitted against the pine hops. Ends up being a huge flavorful beer, that manages to stay pretty well balanced and drinkable. Feels thick and full on the palate, with a lingering grapefruit peel finish. Im gonna have to say fantastic! beergod! (19), Houston, Texas, USA Aug 30, 2008 Aren’t you glad this isn’t a seasonal anymore? I am. Poured into a pint glass from a can and already you get a nice smell of hops, dry hopped for sure. Beautiful amber color. Nice hop flavor but not over the top. Light malt and a nice long dry finish. This is the best tasting canned beer i’ve ever had!!
