Commercial Description:
Gordon is a dry-hopped hybrid strong ale somewhere between a Double IPA and and Imperial Amber Ale (IAA). Brewed in tribute to the late Gordon Knight, Gordon is brewed with massive amounts of American hops and features about 85 IBUs and 8.7% alcohol by volume. Once a winter seasonal, Gordon is now a year-round, limited-supply offering.

Draft at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a rich, hazy reddish-amber with a rocky beige head. Aroma is ridiculously hoppy and sweet. Flavor is a veritable explosion of flowery, citrusy hops. Notes of pine and pepper as well. The malts are very earthy and rich. It’s a hophead dream come true, when so many others fall short. Truly amazing.

Nice brew.... however reminiscent of their "Dale’s Pale Ale" offering. Pours slightly hazed, deep amber into the glass, with an initial eggshell head that leaves wonderful lace. Spot on for grapefruit and pine needle notes in the bouquet. Nicely dry-hopped (and bittered so) throughout the pull, the malts are a little underdone for an Impy IPA, but there comes a great caramel and citrusy grapefruit in the flavor, backed with a huge dry pine finish. Very crisp and clean, I still have to ponder how much this seems like an Impy "Dale’s PA".... but congratulate the brewer for being smart in the description, and I won’t fault the rating as such.

can: aroma of hops, some caramel and brown sugar. Nice taste, the smoothest beer I have had with a designation of double IPA in the description. The hops are not strong up front but appear after the initial taste with a pine and grassy hint. The initial taste is more malty. Does not taste like 85 IBUs. Very chugable like all Oskar Blues beer, and buzz inducing, the 8.7 abv is not remotely noticeable. Does Oskar Blues have any mediocre beers, or are they all the dankness?

this is one smooth mamma-jamma in the canna: orange and caramel aroma; many bubbly, translucent copper-brown body, copper-orange highlight, light tan head, twinkly moderate lacing; medium flavors--orange sorbet, caramel, bread, water; smooth and balanced; very good.

12oz can from a liquor store in northern Mass. Pours a hazy copper-red with a good half inch of light tan head that leaves a fair bit of nice lacing. Citrussy piney hops dominate the aroma, but not without a fair bit of caramel malt to add balance. Tastes like piney, citrussy, and grassy hops with just enough caramel toffee malt to give the beer some balance. Silky smooth mouthfeel, like few beers I’ve had, with ample carbonation helps make this sipper go down fast. Wow, what an awesome beer. Surely one of the best examples of the style. Practically perfect in every way.

Tap @ brewpub. Hazy orange color, short off-white head. Dry hoppy taste, bit floral and fruity. Not in your face hoppiness. Grapefruit and pine. Good balance. Canned: has a bad metallic taste to it. As I mentioned before: pa-lease do NOT put this stuff in a can. Its so much worse. Rating drops to 3.0
