Gubna pours a light amber color with a creamy one finger head. Good retention and lacing. Now I’ve read a lot of reviews on this beer. Very mixed. I’ve heard people say they smell onions. Ok I get that. I’ve heard people say the smell reminds them of cat piss. Yup I get that too. Honestly I love beers that smell like cat piss. I know I’m weird. I’ve even seen a review where someone smelled pork. Now that I don’t quite get from this beer. What I do get is dank ass hops. The mixture of pine and fruit create a power smell here any weed lover would enjoy. Summit hops I think I love you. While the hops are huge there is still a noticeable malt presence. I could sit here all night and just smell this brew. Friggin fantastic.
Now the taste is actually a little different then the smell and in my opinion it’s good but not even close to the greatness that the smell gives off. The onion and garlic everyone is taking about comes through more in the taste. It’s spicy. A good amount of citrus and grapefruit also come through and give quite the bitterness to the brew. Caramel malt backbone can be found more in the taste then it did in the smell.
The mouthfeel is thick and chewy. It’s like the hops weren’t fully dissolved during fermentation and you’re chewing on them.

Eebnin Gubna! This ’ere ole India Pale Ale sure does ’ave a crisp refreshin’ taste, now doesn’t it? A lovely ale to be enjoyed with some fish n chips! Cheerio!

12 oz can. Pours a clear gold amber with a white head. Very sappy pine resin aroma with grapefruit, and kind of a candied note. Flavor reinforces that, with lots of sticky pine sap, grapefruit. Sticky and juicy. Really darn good.

Can dated November ’11. Pours a clear, light red with a large, frothy off-white head. Aroma is medium hop bitterness, some pine, roast, and a slightly sweet malt backbone. Taste bitter hops, resinous pine, thick, sweet malt, alcohol, and perhaps some light citrus. Even and somewhat light mouthfeel. Bit too bitter/boozy for my personal tastes but worth a try.

(Canned) Pours dark orange to amber with a small off-white head. The aroma holds new cut grass, soap, citrus, unripe wild strawberries and weed. The undertones are spicy, light piny and resinous. The malt brings caramel and light toasted bread. Hints of sponge cake and dough. The flavour is near medium sweet and medium bitter. Tones of resin, citrus, spicy wood and black pepper alongside caramelly and bready malt. The mouthfeel is round and numbing with a light carbonation. Clean with a light alcohol touch. Resinous and grapefruity finish. Medium bodied.

Dark amber. Thin head. Perhaps the most spicey I/D-IPA that I have had. Spicey-grapefruit comes to mind.

Pours a clear gold with a creamy medium white head...good laccing. Aroma is herbal and spicy...a bit like body odor funk flavor vollows suit...mildly skunky and very herbal...still a b.o. note. Mothfeel is medium and oily...finish is herbal and lingering.

Hazy golden color with thin white head. Hops and grapefruit dominate the nose. Bitter even before tasted, but when on the palate, it first has a floral taste - something I can’t recognize. It’s smooth at first, then turns a little sour, then leaves you with the bitterness. Points for being interesting, overall pretty good
