4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy glden yellowish orange color with pale golden yellow hues and a one finger frothy, soapy white head. Excellent retention, only slowly fading into a lasting cap that leaves large chinks of soapy lacing behind.
Slightly pungent earthy hop aroma with a very prominent citrus charater as well as some pale malt. Earthy pine notes with hints of soil along with hnts of grapefruit, orange peel and lactic cream.
Chewy medium body that is very hop forward with a strong earthy pine hop presence that lingers throughout into a long, bone dry finish. Pale malt backbone provides very subtle balanced but this beer is all about the hops. Slightly soily with a nice sweet citrus fruit presence. Lots of mango, grapefruit, orange peel and pineapple. Sweet alcohol provides a bit of heat and warmth in the chest. Well balanced and complex but just a touch too soily and dry. Pretty good. I’m not sure why there is so much hate towards this one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Malt House in Madison, WI - Pours hazy amber with a small white head. Nose is melon and honey over a layer of grassy hops, a sweet malt backbone, and a touch of booze. Taste is sweet, malty funkiness that envelop the hops and mutes everything. Finishes with really bitter, grassy hops, almost like biting a dandelion. Lingering spiciness on the long finish. Full and smooth, with nice carbonation, this was a winner in the mouth. There’s enough about this beer that I didn’t like that I could never see paying $16 a four pack.

I suppose I fall on the "disappointed" side of the discussion about this beer, but only slightly. Smells really nice, like grapefruit with a lot of brown sugar sprinkled on top . Flavor is Grapefruit and pine with a lot of brown sugary malt. I mean a lot. I think this may be my biggest complaint about this beer. It’s very heavy, even in the context of DIPAs. I like Gordon better.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can [12oz]. Pours a cloudy golden-orange with an average size frothy white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Oh hell yeah, that smells great: Lots of resiny, citrusy, piney hops, a bit sweet and quite fruity. Very hoppy flavour along with some sweetness, lots of fruit, a good amount of malt, some alcohol, spices (!) and a long, dry, bitter finish. Alcohol’s present but doesn’t taste like 10%, it’s slightly more subtle then that. Medium bodied. A great DIPA that would be even greater if the alcohol were more hidden -- still, a great DIPA in a can! A can!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From can at Olympen. Hazy orangey golden with a lacing head. Potent grassy and citrussy hop aroma. No compromise hop bitterness, some fruity sweetness provides the backdrop. Dangerously delicious.

Really nice double IPA. Quite hoppy with strong citrus flavor that overshadows the whole experience. Bitterness is fairly high, but mild sweetness offsets and brings the whole thing together.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz can served in a shaker pint. Poured a slightly hazy gold with less than a finger of white head. Piney hops in the aroma also a bit of a vegetal smell. More piney hops in the flavor with some malt sweetness. Medium bodied. Some onion flavors come through which are attributed to the hops. Drying finish. Pretty easy drinking at 10% but I wouldn’t want a bunch of these.
The first time I tried a sample of this, the onion was overwhelming. I enjoyed the full serving much more, but I can see how people would be put off by the flavor.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont Circle, March 2010. Pours a transparent amber with a thin white head. Aroma has lots of super sticky, sweet citrus and some alcohol. Taste is citrusy and hoppy, but the citrus is too sweet and somewhat medicinial. Finish is bitter, but not enough to wash away the sugar.
